Also, ask for all of the recordings of your phone calls to be passed to the police, then you can prove that they acted negligently with regards to the old number etc

To be fair this type of issue with Santander doesn't happen as often as some other banks. No consolation to you today though.

Atrocious customer service when you can’t even get through to a Helpdesk. Customer can’t even use debit cards to pay for goods. Appalling.
