@virginmedia help! I dropped my virgin TV remote in my drunk and now it won't work! What do I need to to do to get a new one?

  • juanfelipe1

@simonnread @virginmedia I'm having the same issue. For the period of lockdown I could broadly rely on the signal to my home office. The last 2/3 months I haven't and I am constantly having to tether my mobile at my expense. The router hasn't moved and neither has my office. The service has just worsened

@virginmedia it’s sad that you are still using covid as an excuse not to provide any technical help. Done everything your website tells me to but still have a issue with my broadband. How do I speak to someone about it. Not very happy.

  • NickFitz
Nick Fitzsimons (@NickFitz) reported from Leicestershire, England

@PreetBharara @ZellaQuixote Around 2009 or 2010. I had a computer with a modem that could send faxes that was just about working, and I had to get @virginmedia to send an engineer out to fix my landline. The landline broke again a month or two later and hasn’t worked since, though they still bill me for it.

@MartinSLewis Virgin Media were terrible to deal with when I had a contract with them, poor customer service up until I quit - only then did I get to talk to someone in charge. I still quit and signed up to @sky

@virginmedia and quite rightly VM have been heavily fined. Anyone who has ever contacted VM knows what bastards their customer service ppl can be.

  • IanSMcNee
    Ian McNee (@IanSMcNee) reported

@premnsikka Something of a tangent Prem but there are good domestic service providers that are not owned by US multinationals. I ditched the appalling @VirginMedia years ago over their terrible customer service & moved to Andrews & Arnold - @AAISP. A little more expensive but great service.

🚨 UK Regulator Fines Virgin Media £28 Million ($37.4M) Ofcom has slapped Virgin Media with a £28 million fine for systematically preventing customers from cancelling contracts over nearly three years (Jan 2022 – mid-Sept 2024). Key Findings: - Deliberate call-dropping tactics - Excessive and unnecessary call transfers - Repeatedly putting customers on hold for no reason Ofcom described the failings as systemic and repeated. Background: Virgin Media is a joint venture between Spain’s Telefónica and Liberty Global. This is the second major fine for Virgin Media recently (previously fined £23.8M in December for issues with telecare customers during landline migration). Impact: Another hit to Virgin Media’s reputation in the UK broadband/mobile market.

@virginmedia While 6 weeks ago I was struggling to cancel my VM contract for charging me for a TV package I never signed up for. VM was negotiating with @Ofcom a reduced fine for making it difficult to move to another supplier. VM palmed off my complaints so class action it is

🔴 Ofcom fines Virgin Media £28m for blocking customer cancellations Virgin Media breached UK telecoms rules by deliberately dropping calls, transferring customers unnecessarily, and placing them on hold to prevent contract cancellations between January 2022 and September 2024. Ofcom received nearly 2,000 complaints and found the company's retention agents operated under a commission scheme that financially rewarded obstruction. • Fine of £28m — Ofcom's largest ever under consumer protection rules, reduced 30% after Virgin Media admitted fault and agreed to settle • Millions of calls "likely mishandled" during the three-year period
