I think that old records can remain for up to six years, but that they can be removed earlier, at the discretion of the company concerned. I would persist with @VodafoneUK. They should help. They sent me a new one out yesterday which failed to even function. I'm now on day 2 of them tryinbg to figure out the problem. Just replace the damn thing!

I'm still getting debt collectors from a bill that was supposed to have been written off 30 years ago when £400 of overseas calls in 2 days on an account only used for inward calls for 3 years didn't raise red flags.
