My father in law had the same issue when trying to close his elderly brother’s account with an energy company. Eventually they did resolve it but only when a complaint letter was sent (by post).

AnnB (@AnnBachvarova) reported@VodafoneUK do you have a complaints form/link? Need to raise a complaint as you would be the reason a mortgage can be declined because you never sent a letter to say there was still a fee to pay when contract ended.

IF you do not pay up immediately, I shall be starting legal action, including bailiffs. You treat us this way so you should expect this in return. I expect you to reply immediately.
