@VodafoneUK really disappointed with the customer service I received when calling about our broadband. The Technical team didn’t know how to resolve the issue, so asked me to send them pictures to an email address but when I tried to send them it says the e-address doesn’t work.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I suspect it's more 'corporate incompetence', such an account should have been moved from front end by any of their staff into a file for deceased customers - mind you in bad companies staff tend to be 'trained(!?) to follow set procedures and not to think for themselves.

@DaveLGilmore @GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Not the same but my Gran moved into a care home recently. She's deaf & easily confused and is still unable to cancel her Virgin Media subscription. Numerous calls, hours on hold, passed from team to team & constantly cut off. Tried live chat who were also completely incompetent.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Had a business contract with @VodafoneUKBiz and to say they were unhelpful and rude would be correct. Where l live the mast was on an old fire station they knocked down. No signal, was told get a sure signal box..as a self employed electrician utterly useless. 02 have been brill

@maccaspacca1 @GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Isn't the problem that these companies pay very low wages to staff who know nothing except how to answer a phone, often not in their first language? Try asking a train line call service about a town in England.

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot You're customer service reps have done nothing but make this situation worse. I will be steering well clear of you and advising people I know to do the same.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK This sorry tale echoes my experience administering my mothers estate. For me it was an internet company (though there were others similarly obstructive). I raised a complaint about an individual who didnt even offer condolences & was assured their behaviour would be addressed.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Vodafone UK is terrible. They charged me for a new line I never asked for and they never sorted it out properly. Never got all my money back, wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I conclude that this is a problem with size and that humanity doesn't scale. Not all big cos behave like the Mafia, but most fail us in these kinds of ways because *we* have laws that let them put profit before people. This is anti human and will crush us unless we change system.
