@Miss_Snuffy Self pity finds many friends online from the earliest days of community forums up to today's toxic social media. "Share your support" we used to say at AOL and people did and lots was valuable, but a deep streak of 'alternative truth' bedded down there too to solicit attention.

@neilperkin You'd think they could find a fix. This used to happen with all AOL accounts showing up as 'Virginia' 20 years ago!

Us peeps from 1999-2004, we weren't what you called "chronically online". We were kinda ******* space pioneers or something but on the internet and we explore a lot of things. Whatever's on the internet. Some stuck on AOL, yahoo messenger or even MSN **** but

@Gaurav773124 @ScottBennet0245 @RealPostFolder On the other hand it will make things so abundant and cheap that it might not be as big of a problem as we fear. I'm reminded of how internet used to be $5/h from AOL, and now wifi is free at any McDonald's. Same with clean water.

  • JlB77007
    Caucasian from Caucasus (@JlB77007) reported

@broderick They didn't sale us internet they were saling their service with access with internet. AOL initially wanted to be a contend provider. They failed because people had access to the Internet via generic ISPs.
