@aolmail A family member has received the most appalling customer service from #aol. Utterly shocking. All she wants to do is reset the password as she’s been locked out & the response was effectively, go away and set up another account. She has replied, but I’m not happy.

@KwakuMMNT 112 by default. Jagged Edge were broadcasting to us using 2001 AOL dial up. Horrible signal.

Still having intermittent trouble sending/receiving emails on my @AOL account. Updated password on AOL via Safari; it works. Does not work through my normal email channel either sending or receiving. Systems don’t seem to share info - help!

@Miss_Snuffy Self pity finds many friends online from the earliest days of community forums up to today's toxic social media. "Share your support" we used to say at AOL and people did and lots was valuable, but a deep streak of 'alternative truth' bedded down there too to solicit attention.

@benjedwards school library had a dial-up modem (probably 9600 baud) to ISP through school district. At home was local ISP as AOL/Compuserve/etc. never had local numbers for me.

@RealJTP2 @mateocombs It's not funny..the one good thing about AOL is how their e-mail is sent up..Good interface..Unlimited storage..Think I pay $5 a month..Keep it for the our "Legacy" accounts..Also have G-Mail, which I've had no issues with..

@braxton_mccoy I have said for years that social media will follow the AOL model. For years, AOL dominated personal email, then email became just a protocol and all the $$ ran out of it. For a preview of what social media as a protocol looks like search "NOSTR Network".

Anyone have pointers to some kind of aggregate chart that shows total number of text messages sent across all networks for the past 20 years? Not including email. I’m thinking AOL IM, Gchat, SMS, iMessage, WhatsApp, WeChat, Signal and so on.

@pensivemustache The only point I got was for the AOL email address. That's only because we never had AOL at my house. We pirated our dial-up from the university because we lived like a block away from campus. So I had a Yahoo email address instead. Lol
