The most unrealistic thing about You’ve Got Mail is that she doesn’t get a single busy signal when she tries to connect to AOL. as someone who lived in nyc in the 90s, this is shocking.

Man the internet in the mid 2000’s was really the Wild West you could cat fished married women in aol chat rooms and nothing bad ever happened.

@drewloewe @questauthority I knew a lawyer (who, interestingly, practiced in the same area) whose personal email address was an AOL addy. The last time I had to use it was almost ten years ago, but even that was way too late for that kinda crap.

@TruckerChick379 I never have either. But I did answer my wife’s personal ad, in a daily paper not some xxx thing. That was 28 years ago. When AOL was new and computers had 12” screens!!!
