without being aware. I’ll never forget walking home from school one day, which I usually got A’s & B’s but didn’t feel challenged or motivated to be into it enough, when someone on a street corner of the subway handed me a floppy disk of AOL 1.0.

@KaylaChowShow Watching AOL dial through 15 or 20 phone numbers getting busy signal after busy signal before finally connecting. Then getting a ridiculous phone bill because it was only able to connect after dialing a long distance number.

@shelbysos_ Yeah well AOL sucks, get a better provider.

  • Tomlinson_x
    HAN (@Tomlinson_x) reported

I remember watching AOL dial up patiently waiting to log in to msn and get to the Habbo Hotel pool party for the rest of night on my laptop thinking “imagine if we could just touch the laptop screen and **** would open” LOOOL

  • brienmcmullen
    around the hearth (@brienmcmullen) reported

@southtacoma This is what dying companies do. AOL famously refused to let people cancel, failed to cancel, continued to take direct withdrawals from checking accounts after cancellation, refused to refund. They didn't care about customer service, they were squeezing every last drop.

  • gorillahairglue
    MAN (@gorillahairglue) reported

@Jason_Moorman @arun_richards @JamesADamore Lol true there. Before 230 came along w/ the AOL chatrooms/messenger "cyberbullies". Too bad that **** happened. Now the first ammendment on these "platforms" is pretty much "say whatever we want you to say" or use something else. Yet big tech eliminates all competition. Monopoly

  • FightOnTwist
    Josh “Thanos” Webb (@FightOnTwist) reported

@john_bongs Because I joined a facebook group about AOL? Dude, I don't even know who you are or give a **** that you unfollowed me. You're a ******* zero

@FORM_DESTROYER Other than there never being content, I miss AOL sometimes.

  • SomeCleverPun
Unarmed Combat Champion (Small Dog Division) (@SomeCleverPun) reported

Zoomers will never know what it's like to collect dozens of AOL trial discs and construct a parabolic mirror to hassle the neighbourhood. Sad!

  • dethcoach
    Matt Winter (@dethcoach) reported

@DonSamders how exactly does one make it to 2021 without an email address? Just never had one? Or did, like, his college email address expire? Perhaps the AOL CD-ROM had a statue of limitations? Oh, I know...he's a time traveler from way back prior to the year 1990! is he Encino Man?
