@TinaDesireeBerg This was a mindfuck to say the least. The piece of **** who made the poll did the old capital “i”/lower case “L” trick in the username. I used to do **** like that in AOL chat rooms back in the 2000s to **** with people.

  • antiqueboy Andrew Malin (@antiqueboy) reported from Congers, New York

Adulting department, successful. Cancelled an email account from an old ISP that I hadn’t been on in (several? Many?) years. Sorry to those 20k plus emails that are never getting read. Goes to the graveyard in the ether, along with my AOL account.

  • kanedell Karin Lancellotti (@kanedell) reported from Congers, New York

@NerdOutWithMe @53rdCard I still sign in to check my mail. I could just go to AOL dot com but I like signing in like I’m visiting a place from my childhood. No one is there anymore, I’m the only one.

  • thankyoumoses 2020 Owes us a Refund (@thankyoumoses) reported from Bronx, New York

  • Helen_Highly HelenHighly (@Helen_Highly) reported from Manhattan, New York

@doctorwhoviana @crosa1988 But they loved the infomercial I had written (which never aired). They thought I “understood them.” So they hired me to do all sorts of other stuff. They essentially paid for my 1st condo. Those were the days. But then AOL made a tragically wrong turn. Interesting how that goes.

  • Globalmess65 dominic (@Globalmess65) reported from Manhattan, New York

@ReformedBroker sorry sweetie but $ORCL is not the last of the bunch... $CSCSO and $INTC have never made new highs. Neither has $AOL lol

  • AlanModracek Alan Modracek (@AlanModracek) reported from Closter, New Jersey

@cjane87 I keep putting the emails in the spam folder, but the filter keeps putting the new ones in my inbox. Maybe AOL just sucks? Everything else I only have to flag once or twice, though.

  • ldollaz_ Laura (@ldollaz_) reported from New Rochelle, New York

I hate telling people I still have a AOL account, but when they tell me they still use Yahoo and hotmail....I don’t feel bad at all.

  • eddiemac3356 Ed McCabe (@eddiemac3356) reported from Manhattan, New York

@Pivotal_Capital This is like buying $AOL every time the stock went down due to a service outage. Guaranteed money maker. Buy the virus (or whatever it is). Lol

  • vodkasnowflake I’m the Big Man, I think (@vodkasnowflake) reported from Manhattan, New York

I owe it to AOL and SNL for educating me when I was still single digits of age. But TWA’s crash shook the **** out of me because I was visiting Florida like once a year, so I was anxious every time I got back on a plane.

  • iragersh GND Mass transit for the people (@iragersh) reported from Manhattan, New York

@AOL need to recover scammed email account. Cannot remember prev email. @TechFuse @HelenRosenthal baip support. Aol is escalating case. Seems common problem.

  • artcrimeprof Erin L. Thompson (@artcrimeprof) reported from Manhattan, New York

On #CovidCampus: a family friend in his late 60’s just emailed me from his AOL account, subject line “Hello this is [his name],” to ask if I could come over to help him figure out Zoom for the class he’s adjuncting at a major university, so, yeah, this isn’t going to go smoothly.

If you guess your aol password incorrectly three times it locks you out for 12 hours. No customer service override. This is not how you provide customer satisfaction an why I moved to Gmail 😂

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • simon_fluendy Simon Fluendy (@simon_fluendy) reported

@Gpoptosis But it might have been been AOL tech support with the answer to the question you asked in 1994!

  • skwerl Kevin Cogill (@skwerl) reported

@rob_sheridan I remember scoring a patched version of the AOL app that would think it was in the free area the whole time. Then you needed a new kracked version every time they’d roll out a fix. I also remember using the CC generator!

  • LeButcha Genius Convoy Welcome Committee (@LeButcha) reported

@LethalityJane Stacks upon stacks of 'Join AOL' CDs in the mail. The worst.

  • Sarcoptid sarcoptid, back from the dead 👻 (@Sarcoptid) reported

@JustinMcElroy AOL used to give out "free trial" CD's like candy, and every time my dad would call to cancel our service because we couldn't afford it they'd offer us a free month to keep us on the hook- we got free internet for years that way, lmao

  • lindyland9 lindyland (@lindyland9) reported

@JustinMcElroy I used to stay late after work a few nights a week to argue with people in AOL chat rooms…bc NOBODY had internet at home. At the time, there was no such thing as IT tracing your ill-advised, unprofessional internet activities. It was the best of times and the worst of times.

  • RinleyCoyote Harry Du Bois’ Wild Ride 🚙🧊🌊 (@RinleyCoyote) reported

@JustinMcElroy I was born in ‘94 so all I can give you is the early 2000’s, but the Polly Pocket and Barbie dress up games on their respective websites absolutely slapped ****. Also my mom let me have/play with the AOL disks we got in the mail. Not a bad frisbee.

  • bhavinho_ Detective Bagabiche (@bhavinho_) reported

90’s internet was a great time. Everybody was using AOL, yet AOL wasn’t evil enough to harvest and sell all of our personal data. Misinformation was in fringe chat rooms on ICQ or some **** and not everywhere. A/S/L was somehow a normal thing to ask. What a time.

  • Raybonthird Raybon (@Raybonthird) reported

@Toprolling Look the Doritos shipment is late as **** and I'm beginning to think my pallet won't be here. I'm working hard at HQ to prepare as many Doritos latkes as I can and my body has become a superfluous calorie absorber. $MSTR is up too I logged onto AOL recently; great company

  • sophisticynic sophisticalcynical (@sophisticynic) reported

Reminiscing back to the good ol’ days when I had reliable internet service via AOL and my dialup modem. @SuddenlinkHelp—I work from home and I have no internet. I ain’t got nothin but time until I’m back online. Fix. My. Internet. Today. #SuddenlinkCustomerServiceSucks

  • RealEdShearer Eddie Shearer (@RealEdShearer) reported

@bette_oh I had to use my work email to confirm my account. Sent it to my AOL/Verizon email 4 times and it never went through.
