@jaxlfc_jj @YaTerrynorris70 It’s not restricted to the BBC. If you watch or record live TV on any channel - either through your TV or through a website - then you need a TV licence. This applies whether you receive Freesat, Freeview or a pay-TV service in your home, & whether or not you watch BBC channels.

@AdamP1242 I don't understand how they couldn't just switch the channel? I'm struggling to work out what the problem was. It's literally just a freeview menu.

@p4G3y30 @MartinSLewis If you watch or record TV on any channel via any TV service (e.g. Sky, Virgin, Freeview, Freesat), you need to be covered by a TV Licence. You don’t need a TV Licence if you never watch live on any channel, TV service or streaming service, or use BBC iPlayer*. On any device.

@joeb_EY Analog TV has, I think, now been switched off everywhere, so you'll need to access Freeview. Check with your neighbours whether they get a Freeview signal - mountains can be pesky (bad enough where I am with gentle hills!). I solved it by getting a Roku Express to convert...
