If you watch or record live TV on any channel - either through your TV or through a website - then you need a TV licence. This applies whether you receive Freesat, Freeview or a pay-TV service in your home, & whether or not you watch BBC channels.

I went into Currys and said "doesn't have broadband, not interested in streaming or 'smart', just wants the Freeview channels". You literally can't buy such a thing. I walked out with a JVC with 90% of its functionality she'd never use.
