If we're in lock down for another 3 weeks, I really feel the #sonyChristmasChannel should be put back on #freeview...Will keep people in the house ( okay, it'll easily keep me in the house🎅🤶🌲

  • Christi34653250 Christine Scott (@Christi34653250) reported from Longbenton, England

@ITVX I wish I could or that Freeview took on this network a lot of us on pensions can't afford satalite or cable

  • JonnyRoLi JR (@JonnyRoLi) reported from Newcastle upon Tyne, England

@Fern_McGovern @SIofting @jckhth Nope. You can pay for a better service. Just as you can have Freeview TV, standard channels, most in standard definition but functional, or you can pay more for Netflix/Amazon/etc, Sky or BT with movies and sport in HD. Same principle applies.

  • AddingRandomWit Adam Widdrington (@AddingRandomWit) reported from Newcastle upon Tyne, England

@bigpapablu @itvfootball I don’t have a sky or freeview box! I stream everything and have very good internet so it’s never an issue haha

  • GerryCarpenter3 Gerry Carpenter (@GerryCarpenter3) reported from Sunderland, England

@Claire_Pickard @sueashton3000 Many residents in Sunderland & along the Durham Coast also receive Freeview Channels from the Bilsdale transmitter. The fire is also likely to have knocked out about 30 relay stations, which "feed" on signals from Bilsdale. I wouldn't like to climb up the transmitter to fix it!

@PCarmichaelVO @NadineDorries And there lies the problem, very few people speak Welsh/Gaelic and yet millions is poured into it, not value for money. It's not freeview if we are paying a licence fee for it.

  • dougmcfarlane41 Douglas Mcfarlane (@dougmcfarlane41) reported

@mrdanwalker Of the Freeview TV transmitter network. 4 months and only on January 5th did we get 9 out of the 220+ channels back, conveniently all BBC NO ITV/C4/C5 etc but it's the North East so expect the southern centric BBC not to be too fussed, you only cover the stories you wish so not

  • ukLibertoryan Libertoryan (@ukLibertoryan) reported

@gro_edu @COYR26 @DeborahMeaden Liar. Freeview is jointly owned by all the main broadcasters including Sky and the network is operated by another company.

  • pwatson1974 Paul Watson (@pwatson1974) reported

@Lifeson90 @greg_jenner So what’s the better alternative that keeps all the non-subscription friendly services like Freeview or the transmitter network?

  • Gus_preston Gus (@Gus_preston) reported

@Michael37822549 @ChrisMousse3 @JuliaHB1 So you're happy paying a licence fee if it gets spent on other things than just the BBC? What about the support of the Freeview network that allows free-to-air TV to he broadcast. Or the broadband roll-out. Or SC4? That's not a BBC station.

  • pjtobin00 Paddy (@pjtobin00) reported

@AudsDisease @SkyNews Do you listen to the radio? Or perhaps watch Freeview? The BBC help maintain the Freeview network.

  • theninetyninep1 theninetyninepercent (@theninetyninep1) reported

@cononeilluk @luckyma_man .. many won't have + a subscription fee of min £7/ month. Oh + probably have to invest in smart TV or Freeview Play Box, oh + have to navigate through all those new menus. I wonder if Nadine will be providing a free helpline to help all those elderly ppl navigate the Technology

  • theninetyninep1 theninetyninepercent (@theninetyninep1) reported

@Life_Disrupted + it wouldn't be free Only practical way to do subscription service is Broadband. New broadband connection for a lot of elderly £25/month Subscription min £7/month New smart TV £200 or Freeview play box £100 Helpline to help elderly navigate all those menus + new tech £1 Bn/yr

  • no2jericholane No Jericho Lane Dual Carriageway (@no2jericholane) reported

@ben_pullan @RevRichardColes You don’t listen to BBC radio? You never visited BBC online? You never used other services like Freeview that the license fee also contributes towards?

  • LinWilb northern lass (@LinWilb) reported

@rec777777 @SusanHu25307477 @NadineDorries Unfortunately it’s not straight forward. Anyone that uses Freeview (ITV - Ch4 etc ) it’s all accessible on the free to air model. BBCs WOKEness is coming from further down the line. Indoctrination at school and through University they take this on into the workplace
