Latest outage, problems and issue reports in South Shields and nearby locations:

  • JonnyRoLi JR (@JonnyRoLi) reported from Newcastle upon Tyne, England

@Fern_McGovern @SIofting @jckhth Nope. You can pay for a better service. Just as you can have Freeview TV, standard channels, most in standard definition but functional, or you can pay more for Netflix/Amazon/etc, Sky or BT with movies and sport in HD. Same principle applies.

  • Christi34653250 Christine Scott (@Christi34653250) reported from Longbenton, England

@ITVX I wish I could or that Freeview took on this network a lot of us on pensions can't afford satalite or cable

  • aquablu Nicola (@aquablu) reported from Whitley Bay, England

If we're in lock down for another 3 weeks, I really feel the #sonyChristmasChannel should be put back on #freeview...Will keep people in the house ( okay, it'll easily keep me in the house🎅🤶🌲

  • GerryCarpenter3 Gerry Carpenter (@GerryCarpenter3) reported from Sunderland, England

@Claire_Pickard @sueashton3000 Many residents in Sunderland & along the Durham Coast also receive Freeview Channels from the Bilsdale transmitter. The fire is also likely to have knocked out about 30 relay stations, which "feed" on signals from Bilsdale. I wouldn't like to climb up the transmitter to fix it!

  • AddingRandomWit Adam Widdrington (@AddingRandomWit) reported from Newcastle upon Tyne, England

@bigpapablu @itvfootball I don’t have a sky or freeview box! I stream everything and have very good internet so it’s never an issue haha

  • cleanfeed_ttvr Clean Feed @ The TV Room (@cleanfeed_ttvr) reported

PRESWATCH: continuing fallout from Saturday's Red Bee incident: - E4+1 seems to be off air on Freeview (thanks @theidentgallery for flagging). - Sound on some programme content on some C4 channels seems distorted.

  • mickybnovels Michael Coatsworth-Burdess (@mickybnovels) reported

@FreeviewTV is freeview down? No signal or channels during retune

  • AliceP104 Alice Pennington💙 (@AliceP104) reported

@4Viewers Hi has the technical issue that forced Channel4 off-air yesterday affected audio description? Just watching #FoxysFearless48Hours and there is no audio description despite it being listed as having AD. I double checked and AD is definitely enabled - watching on Freeview

  • Mark56623345 mark Hughes (@Mark56623345) reported

@a516digital Everyone I know at work who still uses DTT to access freeview have some sort of problem over the last few weeks, and they all seem centred on COM 7. I know it's not staying much longer, but I wonder if EEs New masts sprouting up everywhere is something to it.

  • SteveHi52816694 Steve Hills (@SteveHi52816694) reported

@aplaceinthesun It was bad on HD but ok on plain old freeview.

  • pijayess Pete Suters ◉○○ ✨ (@pijayess) reported

@Trash_Panda_C Voyager and TOS on Horror Channel and DS9 on Pick - every week night. Not bad for standard freeview TV.

  • evilcheltdevil Chris (@evilcheltdevil) reported

I know Channel 4 are having problems at the moment, but the quality of the Freeview stream of E4 is terrible - obviously very low bitrate and macroblocking all over the place in fast moving scenes. Hope it’s fixed soon. 🤞

  • a516digital Mike (ex-a516digital) (@a516digital) reported

After that flurry of activity, it seems reasonable to assume that Red Bee / Channel 4 still struggling with Freeview distribution in the regions. C4+1 in Midlands (not available on satellite) now repeating the errors of the past hour.

  • htwcentral Historical Television Website (@htwcentral) reported

@Paliakythro_ann @FreeviewAdvice E4+1 is off-air with just a black screen right now as I type this (Winter Hill region); 4Music is showing The Box music channel which isn't available on Freeview. That's how bad the problems still are.

  • Nolascana Mitani Hart (@Nolascana) reported

@redial999 @MayerAgain @tvlicensing * I am aware of freeview, but frankly that service is shockingly bad in some areas, to the point where BBC itself isn't available in bad weather, which, frankly defeats the point. On a good day there's like...8 channels broadcast from tower the aerial is pointed at.
