ano cbbc being axed is a pure meme n it’s no that deep or whatever but it actually kind is if u think abt it… like what are the poor kids who only have freeview supposed 2 watch when 1 of like 3 free kids channels r being taken off???? kinda sad tbh :( lil me would b cryin fr

  • deniseung_xx denise (@deniseung_xx) reported

CBBC is closing down? our freeview childhood is over @FizzKazmi

  • martinmoulds77 martin moulds (@martinmoulds77) reported

@SkyNews We don’t need BBC, they may as well close down, there are 100’s of free Chanel’s on freeview plus all the sky channels.

  • suffolk_1952 Chris Raynor (@suffolk_1952) reported

@Geates @BBCLookEast I was a big BBC4 viewer but they lost me & a lot of viewers by not transmitting in HD on the Freeview platform from the Sudbury transmitter, ie. Ipswich. They always did on Freesat which I invested in back in 2004 as the analogue reception was awful.

  • pIatformboot 🚬❣️ (@pIatformboot) reported

cbbc shutting down is kind of sad for nostalgia reasons and cause that was like one of a handful of channels kids could watch on freeview

  • Shil_xoh Shiloh (@Shil_xoh) reported

Its so stupid. When I was younger the only thing my family could afford was a freeview box so I spent a lot of time watching CBBC. BBC say "kids spend all of their time on Netflix or Disney +" what about those like younger me who couldn't afford them?

  • samsharpsTBI Sam Sharps (@samsharpsTBI) reported

@AlexGAThomas This is really nicely put. We have been here before though, when the beeb threatened to cut Asian Network and 6 Music. After an outcry they seemed to settle down to the usual salami slicing. Also the strange return of BBC3 to freeview.

  • markpentler Mark Pentler (@markpentler) reported

@mippy I assume the transmission platform side of the costs the same no matter where the content comes from. I think it’s on DAB and satellite? And Freeview? So they probably want to slim that down.

  • cm_scotland cm_scotland (@cm_scotland) reported

@RespectIsVital @BBC An absolute disgrace, CBBC on FreeView should be a protected service for all

  • Pic889 Dimitris (@Pic889) reported

@gerardjasper This begs the question: Since you can't receive the entirety of BBC's broadcasts through generic DVB-T2 equipment (you need a special "Freeview HD" receiver), why not encrypt the service and give subscribers a CAM module to watch it? Let's see how many really want to pay for it.
