@FreeviewAdvice Well, after waiting 2 weeks for a Freeview engineer we are told we need a new aerial. Also, they can’t help us because we have Sky! So they change Winter Hill and now we have to pay. Why didn’t they say this 3 weeks ago...😳

  • iainsykes2014
Iain Sykes (@iainsykes2014) reported from Blackburn, England

@KarmaUnc @GMB @joshwiddicombe Yes, but the BBC is a significant contributor to Arquiva who own the masts. They also support Freeview and Freesat.

@UHD4k @Bobbinz @SVGEurope Afraid although I work for BBC Studios (which makes shows for the BBC) I have no insight into what iPlayer may support in the future. AAC was chosen for Freeview HD because Dolby had no equivalent receiver-mix audio desc'n support in 2009ish when the platform was standardised.

  • IronWorks1990
    IronWorks1990 (@IronWorks1990) reported

@dskiuk2 @Danrocsky76 @cordbusters I went Paris last year and our tv where we stayed was through through aerial, 50 odd channels and every single one of the was HD. Freeview now is terrible in 2026, full of shovelware channels and hardly any HD channels, SD channels look awful as well.

  • TomDennison12
    Tommy D (@TomDennison12) reported

@FractalDoctor @DailyMail TV and radio is all that many elderly people have for comfort, especially living on their own with limited mobility, so yes, taking away Freeview is a bad idea. I doubt if too many 80 to 90 year olds have a fast broadband connection !

    Rosa (@Rosa60044194) reported

@OborneTweets Is great to have this addition, I will definitely be watching it! Shane they can’t a channel on Freeview as well. We need a decent opposition to the terrible GB news

  • SM00055

    Freeview is so **** ATM, I'm actually watching Jamie's 15 minute meals ... !

  • bathbadger
    Rich Knight (@bathbadger) reported

@RugbyBath Despite Prem Rugby saying it's ITV4, The Freeview planner is saying Chiefs V Sarries - i'd ask Prem Rugby, but they never reply!

  • topselfy
    4comall (@topselfy) reported

One of the things that fcks me off more than anything else in cheap hotels like Travelodge especially but also Premier Inn is they never bother to retune most TVs on Freeview. The hotel I'm in tonight upt North looks like it hasn't had the channels updated for at least 5 years.

  • m1ctk
    Dave (@m1ctk) reported

@cordbusters Hoping that the video resolution will be higher than the poor 544 x 576 on freeview at 720 x 576 at least

  • alison_pannell
    Ali-Pan (@alison_pannell) reported

@Jenny_1884 @whinestop I believe the BBC needs to change it's funding model - preferably to a subscription service as using advertising would have negative effects on current Freeview channels. I would like to see a system similar to Sky so you could choose your subscription level.

@itsGower @FionaMc79461755 @bosdovja92 Yes you do!!! absolutely need a TV licence to watch or record live TV on any channel or service, including Sky TV, Virgin Media, Amazon Prime Video, ITV, Channel 4, or free-to-air channels on Freeview or Freesat.
