stevied (@steviexdavis) reported@GBNEWS Needs to be. It's a disgrace we pay a licence fee not to watch the BBC but to watch all the other Freeview Channels. I never watch the BBC, so cancelled licence, now I Can't watch all the other channels.

Luke Rackstraw (@LRackstraw) reported@williambecket @NadineDorries The cheapest Sky package I can find is £26 (which includes the "tax"-payer funded freeview service). Letting the BBC go commercial would mean that pensioners would save £13 a month but they wouldn't get any TV for that. So in effect you'd be doubling the cost for pensioners!

Get a bit of sponsored advertising and I am sure those who wish to subscribe for the price of a licence fee will still do so. Should never force people to pay BBC to watch Freeview on a TV. This is 2022.

(@mergwaines) reported@jedijackles This will also mean the loss of a bunch of freeview channels that you get access to by buying a tv license and getting freeview with it, because they can’t be privatised in the same way, so that would also be really bad for the arts and culture sector :(

Tim Roll-Pickering (@timrollpickerin) reported@Mark0Connell @Paul_Burgin Here's a suggestion that will make the @BBC more popular here: Sort out the Freeview signal so it's watchable in hot weather. Here in London the signal is terrible to non existent at the height of summer. Alternatively make the BBC issue refunds for services not delivered.

Personally I'm for a hybrid model; ads on a skeleton Freeview service, with option of a paid sub on iPlayer for Premium and ad-free catch-up content.
