Lynda D💙 (@e_gran) reported from Hartlepool, England@RachelOrr I think you can just get a phone…it doesn’t have to have a giffgaff SIM (but check on that). However, GG is so cheap and easy and you can change plans or cancel with no contract. We have both been with them for years and years.

Cllr Mike Young (@mikeyoungUK) reported from Elwick, England@giffgaff I got a payg sim for my spare phone yesterday and spent 30 quid on credit so I can use it as a data tethering device for my laptop at home. Live in a rural area so no fibre broadband option. Sadly, there is zero 4G signal. I thought all networks had this sorted?!

A FOI request detailing how network coverage map data is recorded, updated, and published would be interesting to see. It seems to be very different from reality.

I can use my phone to access but only when I turn off my WiFi (i.e. Data is working, thanks GiffGaff). But @TalkTalk wifi? Nothing.What am I paying for?

ShazzBakes (@ShazzBakes) reported@TrickyMcKicky I've 197 lines of data (still awaiting network from 20). GiffGaff, Tesco, iD, Virgin: some named that + "O2" or "EE" but most didn't. So I can't sort properly unless the actual provider is listed. There are 4 Three customers who DID get the alert. So it wasn't a complete ****-up.
