No adverts normally increases quality, without the anchor of the Beeb, they would sell more and more advertising, meaning less quality. @AutieTeleDex @Channel4 @ITV I suspect a side issue is that Facebook, YouTube and Twitter were getting a very high return on it and the BBC weren't able to get a penny back for the actual production. There's clearly money *in* that show under a different model but for the BBC it was not financially tenable.
