TalkTalk Issues Reports Near Newton Abbot, England

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Newton Abbot and nearby locations:

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

It started with @TalkTalk trying to be helpful. Their “tests” had detected a fault with our line - so the email said - and they would send an engineer free of charge to fix it.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

@TalkTalk Hi, a new box is now (belatedly) on its way but does not record. Why have you degraded the service and increased the price?

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

He then pronounced that he had ‘improved’ the speed and left saying it would get better still in a couple of days. The problem was that there was no change - other than courtesy of @TalkTalk we no longer had working extension sockets.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

So two number changes later, we no longer use the landline much. We’ve now got no extension sockets despite not ever having a problem before. We’ve spent hours talking to @TalkTalk but there’s one big problem....

  • drumting James Sharp (@drumting) reported from Totnes, England

    Internet down again @TalkTalk 🙄

  • Rudders3082 Rudders (@Rudders3082) reported from Exmouth, England

@TalkTalk hi my broadband has just gone down

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

@Bushellj @TalkTalk I have a couple of those too - however the delay on the iPlayer #WALENG stream was almost two minutes so I was getting spoilers sent by text! Also the BBC uses HLG for its iPlayer UHD and the old 2018 version of Firestick doesn’t support it. Need to buy a new one!

  • MandyPearse Mandy Pearse (@MandyPearse) reported from Teignmouth, England

@danslee @virginmedia That’s shocking customer handling Dan. If it’s any help I’ve actually found the guys @TalkTalk pretty good especially on tech issues around broadband.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

.@TalkTalk NEVER listen to what you are saying to them. It now looks as if I will have to sue @TalkTalk for the negligence of their engineer in disconnecting our sockets unnecessarily. Aaaarrrggghhh!

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

I then spoke to a fault manager who also said the problem was my router. I told him that the fault was with the external BT Openreach wiring. I plugged in the crappy Huawei @TalkTalk router and lo and behold there was an external fault.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

Now I use my own router rather than the dodgy Chinese one supplied by @TalkTalk. I was also fairly confident that there was no problem with our internal wiring but the ‘engineer’ proceeded to cut the wires to all our internal sockets.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

I tried @TalkTalk’s ‘live chat’ to explain that their engineer had decimated our house wiring but I was then told the problem was my router. (Lesson to self -Do NOT use live chat)

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

.@TalkTalk then refused to send an engineer out to fix the damage they had done. They are insisting on me sending another crappy router as apparently they cannot test the line (despite saying at the beginning of all this that their tests had shown a problem with our wiring.)

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

The problem is that you cannot trust @TalkTalk. They lost our data to a plague of Nigerian hackers who pestered us daily. Then they gave us a new telephone number which was from another customer whose data had been lost.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

We waited in for the engineer. Surprisingly he turned up on time. He said that he was here to fix the ‘bridge tap’ which was all he did. @TalkTalk said there was a problem with our internal wiring.

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

If you have ever suffered a Broadband fault you will have some idea of the hell that is @TalkTalk customer service. A thread on how not to do things.

  • alanprice65 Alan Price (@alanprice65) reported from Borough of Torbay, England

@TalkTalk Hi. I'm losing hope here. Are 0808 numbers free from TalkTalk landlines with no 60min limit, as shown on your website? I'm being told I get charged for all 0800, 0808 and 0500 numbers. Help!!!

  • shaldonangler Stuart Reynolds (@shaldonangler) reported from Shaldon, England

@TalkTalk I’m not asking for any information about my account. Just a simple answer to the question why do you think it’s right to treat your customers this way? (PS I used to be a data protection expert so please don’t give me any BS about GDPR and not being able to answer my question.)

  • kellyvicker Kelly Louise Vicker (@kellyvicker) reported from Borough of Torbay, England

@TalkTalk I was told Thursday I would be getting a call from a manager within 24/48 hours which hasn’t happened. I want to leave your company and you can’t even get that right let alone the 2 years of awful customer service and awful connection. I would like some answers please!

  • LiamChave Liam McGregor (@LiamChave) reported

@OpenreachHelp Absolutely pointless you having a twitter account then. It's your engineers doing works and you can't tell me anything. Absolutely ridiculous company and service. TalkTalk cannot get in contact with you so I'm left in lurch and at your mercy!!

  • Joe14474064 Joe Boyle (@Joe14474064) reported

@TalkTalk you have "upgraded" me today but appear to have changed my PPPoA password and now my expensive gaming router will no longer login so I have no Internet. Can you advise?

  • Lynfa11 Lynfa Moses (@Lynfa11) reported

@TalkTalk I pay for the internet for my tenants. I do not live in the house. The internet has been very intermittent for weeks. Can you help? My account numbefr is 1013626538 Thanks

  • CrispyFloyd Dansk404 (@CrispyFloyd) reported

@GigerPunk I'll take note of that for when my current TalkTalk contact runs out. It's reliable, but like so many never delivers speed promised.

  • EmmEDavies Emma Davies (@EmmEDavies) reported

Just resigned to @TalkTalk a bit annoying I had to use my sons email address They won’t accept my #talktalk email because it’s been used on a different account Wouldn’t it be easier just to use that account again? Hopefully my WiFi signal will improve now #grassisntgreener

  • shahadbjyo Shahad (@shahadbjyo) reported

@TalkTalk never saw a customer “service” department as rude as talk talk. After endless attempts to solve my broadband issues, I am leaving talk talk and now they’re making it EXTRA complex to do so. Plus, I don’t even have a contract with them and it’s this hard

  • GigerPunk GigerPunk (@GigerPunk) reported

@CrispyFloyd Bleuch! My aunt went with talktalk because they advertised in the national press, one reason I'd NEVER go with a company, spending on ads like that instead of putting it into infrastructure. And it was TERRIBLE. But she wouldn't listen (and then needed help all the time:/

  • GL650_LynneG 🏍 Lynne Gee💙 📱+🚗=💥❌ (@GL650_LynneG) reported

@TalkTalk @Sea_Penguin5 In what country was that non-standard plug sourced. You should be supplying equipment suitable for the country in which your customer lives! "You need an adaptor .. " indeed!! 😠
