The account, and my details, would be just as safe if a passcode protected it.. These can be randomly generated on request. I'm frustrated, not dim.

You don't operate your own network infrastructure, you use O2 as your network carrier, therefore are not a real network operator. You also therefore have wholesale costs for using o2, but they have the maintenance costs of that network
