I was talking into staying by a very nice customer service chap, £10pm sim only, only to discover I’d started using more data, add a few bolts on etc, all ok, then I discover you actually do a bolt for say 12gb which was actually cheaper then the 2 bolts on that I was paying

The problem is this estate didn't exist 10 years ago, it was a field so no new hardware = congestion. The mast I connect to is behind police HQ (who have their own mast). MK42 7FX.
