Utterly useless service from AOL/Yahoo/TalkTalk yet again following my complaint reference the breakdown/failure of their systems. So irritating when you pay for a service and don't get it. I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. @AOL

When it first arrived — and I made a blog there within the first two months of its public existence — @tumblr was the near perfect blogging platform. Then AOL destroyed it. Now it’s a horrible jail where I can’t get rid of this dumb screen. Thanks @automatic.

@benjedwards school library had a dial-up modem (probably 9600 baud) to ISP through school district. At home was local ISP as AOL/Compuserve/etc. never had local numbers for me.

  • YardleyShooting
Mike Yardley (@YardleyShooting) reported from City of London, England

I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. If it doesn't work, they shouldn't take my money. @TalkTalk is a useless outfit too. I was called for months by fake Indian call centres after their data hack. My home internet sucks. @AOL @Ofcom

  • videoblivion
    Nightraven (@videoblivion) reported

We never should've left livejournal and myspace. AOL should rebrand with the 90s aesthetic and bring back chatrooms and message boards

  • jeaniejtg
    Jeanie Gallacher (@jeaniejtg) reported

@AOLSupportHelp Is there any way I can get logged in to AOL to access my emails? I've been signed out. I was sent a few access codes yesterday via WhatsApp, but my WhatsApp showed an automated reply saying I never requested codes. I can't get anything sent on my current number.

    exQUIZitely 🕹️ (@exQUIZitely) reported

AOL was once worth more than Nvidia, McDonald's, Apple, Amazon, General Motors, Starbucks, Adobe, Nokia, and Disney - combined! It was the world's #1 Internet Service Provider and mailed a billion free trial CDs. You'd find them tucked into cereal boxes, magazines, and airplane seat pockets. At one point, half of all CDs produced on Earth are AOL discs. Once the biggest merger in history (AOL/Time Warner), now a mere glimpse on the radar...

    Jackson Behre (@TheGreenBehren) reported

    1. Who ******** reads AOL, boomer 2. Why does AIPAC always curse the honorable Kennedy family 3. Building codes are not “rogue” it’s due process, a key element of civilized society

  • toujoursyucky
    craig 🥐 (@toujoursyucky) reported

They want to go back to the internet being a bunch of walled gardens like in the AOL days. You can see it with the slow introduction of paid tiers and needing ID for social media apps. But unlike the AOL days people are used to having unfettered access.

  • KKnudsonHistDoc
    Karen Knudson (@KKnudsonHistDoc) reported

@TexasShae2 @JonKatz79 I use my AOL email as a dumping ground when I do not wish to be nagged. I never look at it.

  • DNAisCode
Intelligent Design is Science (@DNAisCode) reported

@adxtyahq This is so beyond dumb. AI is NOT tokens. Do you have any idea how early we are in AI? You're talking like the tech has reached its peak and will never get better or cheaper. Did you declare the internet a bubble because you had to pay AOL $50 for two hours of dial up?

  • JoknobWoozy
    JoknobWoozy (@JoknobWoozy) reported

@hthieblot Napster, AOL, limewire, **** I remember being in and yelling at my siblings because you couldn’t be on the phone and internet at the same time.

@NotPerrysBoobs @ElmWho I spent many hours trying to get it to work with the free aol cd's, but I never did. I think you might have needed to pay an additional fee or something.

@MarcFinkPart7 @KevinLamb74 Prequels were on everyone's lips, even casuals who aren't movie nerds at all. Everyone was involved. All the biggest fan site forums, AOL chat rooms, heck even Newgrounds site all debated about it. In big cities like NYC you'd never hear the end of pro/against conversations at comic shops, B&N book stores, libraries. I was finishing up HS going on to college in 2001 and everyone at my campus at Lehman College talked about it.
