@marczak_rob @rosemcgowan I'm still sometimes receiving stupid, fake, unwanted, hacking aol emails. I'll also always only totally dispose them as they deserve so. To myself and all others here, never be intimidated like doing what's right in life doesn't still always matter. It does.

@Smilan317 @NotOneNotTwo Not the same, but I remember wanting to rid myself of AOL, and spent a ton of time getting grilled by their 'customer service' about why I wanted to cancel. Why? Like I owed some kind of explanation.

By the mid 90s, cable TV was the standard here. Almost anyone had a connection. Some families shared the same outlet to reduce the budget, but it was kind of allowed by the cable service. Then AOL appeared, then several other companies started offering something called INTERNET.

@aethericAnuran I mean... I am over 30. I remember the chaotic wilds of the BBS boards and AOL chatrooms... ******* Thunderdome compared to how the internet is now tbh. But kids using their age as a shield after saying dumb **** on a platform rated "Mature" annoys ******** out of me

@Post_Market @nomad_capital If you’re looking at the end of the arc I would agree (eg, AOL). I took the question as looking for companies that “never” converted usage/economic activity into their own economics. A fictional example would be a website that just sold TVs at negative gross margin.

@HarperDJ @ChristineParini Don has really crushed those companies. You almost never hear of them anymore. What is The Home Depot? Coke? I personally love voter suppression. That's why I've stopped patronizing Blockbuster, Sears and AOL.

@Pauseandplay It was for the Commodore 64/128. In the early 90's it shut down and the company morphed into AOL.
