  • biggle1908

Looking for some advice lovely people. For twenty something years I have had broadband from BT and TV from Sky. Sky’s renewal is coming in at over £100 per month and am currently paying £62 for BT which is now painfully slow. I have been looking at Virgin Media for both and this gives me a saving of around £70 per month for much faster broadband. What are people’s experiences with Virgin Media. Thanks in advance.

@virginmedia Plus convenient for you to get out of the compensation clause, restoring it for a few hours. The latest update showing is fix by 5 August at 16:08, so another whole day without internet. Is this a new fault or the last one not fixed properly?

  • Gabarillo

  • SamanthaJane_H
    Sam Sheehan (@SamanthaJane_H) reported

@virginmedia I did direct message 4 days ago, nobody read or replied. I’ll recap- 2 weeks no service, five engineers sent to diagnose the same problem multiple times, no fix. Complaints team open and close complaints immediately with no resolution. Fix not due for at least another week.

  • AhmadX_Official
    It's Ahmad (@AhmadX_Official) reported

In 2003, 68-year-old Stan Beaton said goodbye to his beloved wife, Ruby, after she lost her battle with cancer. Among all the memories she left behind, one became his greatest treasure, a simple voicemail recorded on their home answering machine, preserving the sound of her voice. For years, Stan kept the same phone service for one reason alone: he was terrified that changing providers might erase that recording. Whenever grief became too heavy, he would play the message, finding comfort in hearing Ruby speak once again. Then, without warning, everything changed. During a routine system upgrade by Virgin Media, the voicemail was accidentally deleted. Stan later described the heartbreak: "When I realized it was gone, it felt like I had lost my wife a second time." Once the company understood what had happened, they launched an extraordinary recovery effort. Around a dozen engineers dedicated three full days to retrieving a single voicemail. They combed through archived systems, aging servers and backup files, comparing the task to finding a needle in a haystack. Despite the odds, they refused to stop searching. Against all expectations, they found it. When Stan learned how many people had worked tirelessly to recover his recording, he was overwhelmed. "All those people… just to help me? I never imagined a company would go to such lengths," he said. Then came the moment he had almost given up hope of experiencing again. Ruby's familiar voice filled the room: "Stan and Ruby are not available right now. Please leave your name and number, and we'll get back to you." Tears quickly welled up in his eyes. "Amazing… absolutely amazing," he whispered. With deep gratitude, he later said: "I thought I would never hear her voice again. They gave me back something I believed was gone forever. They made an old man incredibly happy." Sometimes the greatest treasures aren't money or possessions. They're the few precious seconds of a loved one's voice memories that can comfort a heart for a lifetime.

@Markford64LUFC @virginmedia If you care to look means they should reap people of? From 85 to 254? What kind of stupid and ignorant statement is that? Do you and everybody else have the same life problems or situations? You must be smarter than people who compiled that data. Nextttt man

@biggle1908 @SBarrettBar @zeninternet I have both Zen and Virgin Media (two fibres). Zen is symmetric but VM is not (here), despite Zen being half the price. Symmetry (or not) depends on the underlying infrastructure supplier. VM has been great over many years, fairly usual tech support; Zen has been excellent and the tech support is very techy. ("Symmetric" here means upload and download rate is the same; often upload is much slower.)
