@Miss_Snuffy Self pity finds many friends online from the earliest days of community forums up to today's toxic social media. "Share your support" we used to say at AOL and people did and lots was valuable, but a deep streak of 'alternative truth' bedded down there too to solicit attention.

Thank God I figured it out. Since about 7:30pm yesterday or a bit earlier, my signal dropped so low I felt like I was on AOL dialup. A hair away from unusable. Speed was 1200 baud level. I was blocked from the Internet completely using a browser. Faris’s hackers, either in the arctic or Ron’s crew across the street hacked my phone and turned on the phone’s WiFi. There was no WiFi icon on the screen that obviously would have alerted me. I found it by discovering my phones cellular connection had been changed to 5G for everything, yet LTE was showing on the screen. 14 calls to the cellular carrier in an effort to get help were canceled. Now I know by whom, and why. Last night I was on hold for twenty minutes for two separate calls with no pickup. Today I called 12 times and finally figured out a faster way to dial (don’t ask) so a few calls got through but were then disconnected, two got through to the automated help but when they transferred me to the help people the call was disconnected. And to top off this marvelous day, I was forced to file a theft report for two missing firearms. This is getting really serious. One of those firearms has a Good chance of being in the attic…… He asked to take what I thought were very questionable photos -we’ll see……….. I would not have even called the Sheriff’s department after the horrible experiences I’ve had, but as of July 1, 2026, in this county anyway, filing a report for stolen firearms is mandatory. Everyone who is a Targeted Individual needs to post every day on social medial with LINKS so more people are aware of this sick program and gang stalking. I have posted them repeatedly so look at my Posts and Replies and you’ll find them. But most importantly, NEVER, EVER, Give Up. Turn every attack, every hassle into a challenge. Become a survivor, not a victim.

@peterjbirks @GetItQuietly Twenty years ago there was a guy named Ferrari who had to say ‘cancel the account’ 21 times before AOL would cancel it. At one stage, AOL asked him to put his father on the line. He was 30

@brivael I worked at Time Warner for 24 years, and lost hundreds of thousands of my 401k in the infamous AOL merger that killed off the greatest media company in the world—the worst merger in corporate history. I mostly blame Steve Case and his other AOL cronies, who dumped all their stock right at the merger, while all the TW Execs and employees kept their stock and lost billions. I remember McKinsey’s empty suits seemed to be everywhere at Time Warner drying its death throes, and it always seemed like McKinsey helped orchestrate its collapse.

I said it again and again and again: the current LLMs are equivalent to the dialup of dotcom era. Back then we were effectively paying a software license for AOL. Today, the idea of paying to use the Internet is absolutely absurd. My gut tells me there’s a place for the frontier models. But I don’t see it being in the hands of every consumer when the technology is essentially a commodity. I think the frontier models have a legitimate business that’s going to be much smaller than the market currently prices them at. I also see people totally misunderstand the value proposition for AI. Neither OpenAI nor Anthropic are needed to sustain the AI boom. At worst there’s an air gap. Doesn’t matter if it’s open source or not—same compute is needed. And if the models aren’t as good, then ChatGPT and Claude are needed.
