@ESPN your iPad app is literally one of the worst playback devices I have ever used. It’s like watching video on a 1994 AOL dial up. app.

@annalindwasser @MartyMoss3 @svershbow 1982 was an awkward year to be born, like a generation hybrid. My mom would ground me from the computer and then need help using the computer so I’d convince her that I couldn’t help unless she ungrounded me. I’m old enough to remember and have used AOL chatrooms.

@BC_Trevor Sometimes a business has to adapt or fail. Take AOL back in the days for an example. Even though they were leading the space at the time with plenty of money to play with, they still failed. The world was heading towards high speed internet and they stayed with 56K dial-up.

  • DisForDeepDish Jehova Thiccness (@DisForDeepDish) reported

Not me in 1999 begging my mom for a pager, MCI service, and an AOL account.

@KeyBarrettMSc fast. FetLife was really nice until the CollarMe founders had a fight & the site went down before re-emerging as CS. Before CS, there was irc on bondagecom & then there were the AOL chatrooms. With all of its faults, Fetlife has a place it has connected an entire world of 11/

@ohyeahhii @JoeTyner5 @svershbow How was home internet scarce in the 90s? AOL was practically throwing those discs at people and if you had a landline, you were mostly good-to-go. Anyone who already had a computer wouldn't have a problem obtaining/plugging in a modem.

  • ummIamMike micheal (@ummIamMike) reported

@UberFacts The ever SO irritating Dial-up... and getting an AOL. Com disc in the mail and going to hang out in chat rooms. The worst part of this whole thing though would have to be getting disconnected by a gosh dammit phone call and having to start all over again! The old days were brutal

  • 2handtie 2HandTie (@2handtie) reported

@WCInvestor Enjoyed the article. Bitcoin is AOL is a poor take IMO. Bitcoin is the only truly decentralized crypto and its slow, methodical upgrades of monetary policy are features not bugs. Decentralization is the only novel element of blockchains. Everything else can be done on a database.

  • LJNJ2FL LJ (@LJNJ2FL) reported

@digitalassetbuy 500k transactions max Btc can’t do that many transactions that swift handles like almost 100x that daily. Lightning thunder. Nothing on that network will be capable. Think AOL MySpace Netscape. Out wit the old in wit new. Gonna take sometime but zero doubt

@SixSigmaCapital @mallik70 @SatoshiAlien My biggest takeaway is that a use case that solves a problem is different than a "use case". I can send you an e-mail with AOL or gmail, that doesn't mean AOL is solving a problem in society.
