Only reason I mentioned that song (Tarzan Boy) is because I've been watching a lot on NOW 80s on Freeview channel 83. I didn't realise that apart from some good songs, how much crap there was as well in the 80s 😂

John Ellis (@ProfJohnEllis) reported from Egham, England
@MariaMichalis @All4 C4 is in talks to join Britbox... and you get surveillance on any streaming service, even ad funded. That’s how they can target the ads and tell you where your nearest car dealership is (new in All4). Only Freeview lets you keep anonymity

@WebsterFrank @abline11 @jamiebglover Could it be some, in fact a lot have freeview, freesat etc and can watch other news. Trouble is we still have to pay BBC to watch other news. Get it?

@SamPEAK1951 @NadineDorries The principle is people shouldn't be forced to pay for something they don't want, need or support. Yes, we all pay for essential services that some may not use but that's not the same as a TV broadcaster. If they are so good go subscription only and come off Freeview

@DarylSting @RhonddaBryant As it costs each licence payer £159, I should hope not. It's a tax that hits the less well off more. There are plenty of other channels that provide an excellent service on freeview.

@Forces_TV Was really getting into this tonight, but sadly forces tv on my freeview has lost signal from the Com 7 transmitter 😭

Nae McKay (@NMackz) reported
@SaraN12533752 @jim63895391 @jamiebglover It also funds Freeview and various other digital TV platforms that support live viewing of lots of other channels.

@Bob_Bobson66 you using Xplore? i just tried Kodi APK and that wont install either. So I suspect its more an issue with not installing than the freeview apk

@TomSwarbrick1 There are no good alternatives to the BBC licence fee. Will BBC TV be taken off Freeview and put behind a paywall? My grandparents couldn’t work a streaming service? Does Global want to compete for advertising revenue with a commercial BBC radio network? Bonkers!
-
Mark Foley (@mecafolidas) reported
@MahyarTousi Do tell how you are going to move it to a subscription & how long that'd take? Freeview isn't compatible, broadband not in all parts of the UK etc etc. Radio? Only potential solution is advertising - huge hit to ITV etc. Note: Gov & BBC Trust blocked iPlayer expansion/sub in '09.

@custardsmaster @JamesSm37912408 @EmmaKennedy Bigger point, do you access Freeview? Freeview (or to be precise, terrestrial television services) are transmitted on BBC owned multiplexes. No BBC also means the commercial channels disappear from terrestrial broadcast. Your TV licence literally pays for the transmission network

@catherinerusse2 @Public_Campaign @NadineDorries Signed & RT'd! ✅ I only have Freeview channels so if we lost the BBC further down the the line I would lose a big chunk of my best viewing! Admittedly I could maybe use the licence money to buy something else...but is the quality of new content as good as the BBC?!🙄
