Is this Skysports or AFTV, why is Ian Wright constantly referring Arsenal as “We”? You never hear such a thing from other pundits, so unprofessional.

Before SkySports came in to show games behind a paywall RTE showed 31 games live out approximately 55-50 games. In 2014, Sky Sports took over TV3 coverage of between 8-10 exclusive games and increased it to 20 games a season while having 14 exclusive games behind a paywall. In 2022, SkySports either lost the rights or didn’t go back in to renew their rights. This opened the opportunity for RTE to take over the rights but they didn’t. instead GAAGO took them over. In the two years of GAAGo, they showed 38 games exclusively. That’s 7 more games than RTE showed on Free to Air television. In 2025, GAAGO was rebranded to GAA+. And again they went on to show 2 more exclusive games while RTE continued to show 31 games on Free to Air television. Now in 2026, RTE have upped their games to 35 shown on free to air TV while GAA+ is now showing 40 exclusive games. Since they ‘paywall’ has been introduced when sky sports started showing GAA games RTE have stagnated in increasing their coverage of the games. RTE have gone from showing roughly 50% of championship games in 2013 to roughly 29% in 2026. RTE in 2013 showing 31 out of 60 games. RTE in 2026 showing 35 out of approx 120. The issue lies within RTE not GAA+. If it wasn’t for GAA+ we wouldn’t see around 35% of all the championship games. The only argument anyone can have is if your county is repeatedly on GAA+. Other than that we are so lucky that we are in a generation that we have so much additional access to view games.
