@virginmedia your DNS TTL (a web server change time to live) is probably the worst on earth. My new website works everywhere in the world other than on #virginmedia broadband. You absolutely suck, big time. Crock of shite.

@virginmedia you guys are truly the worst... move the service to you with 6 weeks notice and you don't have it ready - suggesting we wait 16 days until you're ready with no service as we've cut the other provider?????

  • NatalieAHills
Natalie Hills (@NatalieAHills) reported from Hove, England

My boyfriend has been trying to cancel his @virginmedia account since September when his contract came to an end, and to this day he is still on the phone to them trying to disconnect his broadband. Worst company and customer service I’ve ever had to witness.

  • scotthortop
Scott Hortop (@scotthortop) reported from Brighton and Hove, England

@virginmedia Yes, everything seems to be working now. However, I have just received a call from Virgin Media, or someone purporting to be you, telling me that I had poor broadband performance , and I needed to sit in front of my laptop to fix it. I soon hung up, getting the wrong vibes.

  • alternativeage
Alternative Ageing (@alternativeage) reported from Brighton and Hove, England

@virginmedia It’s happening way to regularly. I’ve lost a whole days work up to now, do I get compensation? Spent an hour yesterday morning sorting out yet more issues as a result of the outage over the w/e. 🥲

  • sami_chanchan
Sami Channon (@sami_chanchan) reported from Worthing, England

@virginmedia That’s fine you’ve been much more helpful than the contact centre he was so rude!

  • mejones2121

  • GrassHoppus
Ellie Cole 🐆 (@GrassHoppus) reported from Hove, England

@virginmedia how can you charge a disconnection fee for a service I never renewed and disconnected the day my contract ended? Absolutely ridiculous and I'm still being charged for the contract I never renewed!

  • dizzymabil
ydnam (@dizzymabil) reported from Sompting, England

@virginmedia Seems its all over the area. Dozens of posts on local SM pages, people without service since late last night. Can't wait to change providers, to a company that actually supply what I pay for

  • garypleece
Gary Pleece (@garypleece) reported from Brighton and Hove, England

@virginmedia Hi, the interruption is ongoing so I’m guessing we have faulty equipment? When I go onto the website it tells me to ‘reset’ which I do and it works for a while then goes wrong again. Can we sort a new router? Is that the issue?

  • melon_h
Helen Rimmer 💙 🔶️ (@melon_h) reported from Burgess Hill, England

@virginmedia This is still appalling customer service. I have to register (I did this when things were down in Dec for almost 72 hours), I have to alert etc you are the service provider. How is it good CS that we assume you are lying in estimates? No compensation for Dec either.

  • sara_saehasti

@virginmedia please can I have the UK customer services number as gathering inconsistent information from the general call centre and I am losing faith

  • Sacto_King_UK
Danny Williamson (@Sacto_King_UK) reported from Worthing, England

@virginmedia Don’t you think a courtesy message to say they’re off shift now? All email communication suddenly stopped, with no explanation 2 days ago. And I’m still waiting. I’d like to raise a complaint now please, this has been going on for almost 3 weeks now.

  • garypleece
Gary Pleece (@garypleece) reported from Brighton and Hove, England

@virginmedia No it was the ‘general area fix’ (my engineer was cancelled by Virgin) which was then followed up with an email that said ‘everything is sorted’ which it was, until today when it was in and out again for hours. It’s ok now, but for how long?

  • scotthortop
Scott Hortop (@scotthortop) reported from Brighton and Hove, England

@virginmedia All your cable services are down right now, but can you explain why I can't access the programs recorded on the hard drive my virgin box? That makes no sense...

@PitRucker99 @Starlink The UK is not that bad. Spain is much worse. People pay €49 / month for internet. The problem in the UK is lack of "physical options" but it is getting better: 1. Virgin Media (cable) 2. BT - Telephone lines - ADSL - Fiber optic 3. Three - 5G modem 4. Starlink

  • TruthAsylum121
    (Re)Search & Destroy (@TruthAsylum121) reported

THREAD 9 — COMMUNITY CALLING AND THE MONEY BEHIND THE DEVICES The Community Calling programme gives us another important part of the story. Virgin Media O2 and Hubbub have worked together to collect and redistribute unwanted smartphones. Migrant Help has been one of the organisations receiving devices for asylum seekers and refugees. Then there is the Tech Lending Community Fund. The first phase was worth £400,000 and supported charity partners to establish tablet-lending hubs. The projects included organisations such as Thames Reach, the Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation, Willowacre Trust, Refuge and Leeds Refugee Forum, with tablets and O2 data being made available through the programme. In Swansea, around 700 donated phones were distributed through a Community Calling project, with O2 providing 12 months of free data, calls and texts. Swansea Asylum Seekers Support made 127 referrals to the scheme in 2021. Its records also show £8,175 spent on phone top-ups, covering 1,160 £10 top-ups. There was another £2,400 provided by Hay Brecon Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees. The funding came through organisations including the Moondance Foundation, Comic Relief/SCVS Emergency Fund and Welsh Government/SCVS Integration Care Fund. This is where the investigation starts moving beyond technology companies. There is philanthropic money. There is council money. There is Government money. There is corporate money. And there are charities distributing the resulting technology.
