And pricks of the day award goes to @virginmedia . 89 Year old mother forgot to pay her bill , €30 over the Christmas. Dad 93 was in hospital for a Hip replacement, so bills understandably forgotten you'd think . Nah , the world we live in and Virgin media cut the Service.

@p_burnzzz @pauldonaldillon @irishfabian @NUJofficial @rte Agree - if they were all removed RTE would still have financial issues. If it’s like the rest of the public sector, salaries are probably 40% higher than equivalents in Virgin Media, Communicorp, etc.

I will never, as long as I live, use Virgin Media or indeed anything related to that horrible brand. Have been treated appallingly by Virgin Media Ireland. Cancelled a service of theirs only to be billed for 3 successive months *and* receive a threatening letter.

Virgin Media Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • AdriandaviesJ John Davies (@AdriandaviesJ) reported

@virginmedia We have tried the service checker, this asked us to book a engineer to our house next week. As it turns out the internet is down for the entire area due to the fibre being cut in the area, I only found this out by asking an engineer at the virgin exchange!

  • ann_ellison Kerrie-Ann Ellison (@ann_ellison) reported from Warrington, England

@virginmedia 30 day cancellation is nearly up, just waiting on the returns packaging to arrive. But don’t see why I have to pay £150 for a service I’ve not been able to use for a month

  • HavocTechie Havoc Techie (@HavocTechie) reported from Epping, England

Hey @virginmedia why in 2022 is it better to leave you and save more than it is to give me a new customer rate.

  • sdd_96 Stephen ☆ (@sdd_96) reported

@virginmedia I’ve just had a look at my Equifax credit report and noticed a ‘trace enquiry’ for TDX Group for yourselves. I’ve never taken a contract out with Virgin. Is there anyone I contact about this?

  • johnjpkennedy John Kennedy (@johnjpkennedy) reported

@virginmedia I've had upteen problems with Internet, tv and the phone for about a week or so now and all I get is that you've found the problem..... Well why hasn't it been fixed yet?? 20 yrs with virgin 🤔🤔🤔 and I know there are others in the same boat.

  • AVFCJC23 JC (@AVFCJC23) reported

@virginmedia Hi NB, I have tried the fault test and also unplugged everything, waited and plugged everything back in. Still not working and stuck on a loop of welcome, getting started and installing software screens.

  • Jam_1138 Jamie Richardson (@Jam_1138) reported

@virginmedia You are probably setting yourself up for a fall, after speaking to your colleagues on the phone, they have said that it will take up to 7 days to amend the contract (no explanation why). If it can’t be sorted, I think I’l just cancel while I’m still in my cooling off period!

  • mattybreckon Matt Breckon (@mattybreckon) reported

@virginmedia The same problem occurred at the same time as yesterday 15:30. Loss of service and router runs through start up cycle but won’t re-establish connection. I have manually powered down and up the router but still no broadband. Expect it will suddenly start working again later

  • NicoleHarr92 Nicole Harrison (@NicoleHarr92) reported

@virginmedia But the account holder is now going to have to reset my personal email via phone as i can’t access a reset link. So the account holder will have access to my personal emails? Because you won’t speak to me? Which is stupid

  • JenClone Jen (@JenClone) reported

Beware @virginmedia broadband contracts. I'll be between addresses for about six months, and rather than let me pause my contract they are slapping me with nearly £300 in cancellation fees. Even though their own website apparently caps this at £240. Never again.
