Thinking of switching as my current internet is nearly out of contract but had bad experiences with BT in the past so am at a bit of a loose end. Or look at one of the smaller fibre companies, I’m with a company called Squirrel and get 1GB up/down for £28 a month with no mid contract price increases.

There's no loyalty either way, just leave and get the same service from Plusnet/EE (same company as BT) for far less. Takes minutes.

But bear in mind virgin, brsk and a few other companies require a new drill through in the property because they don't use the same fibre line. Plusnet use the same line and bt so it would just be a ont change.
