@charlotter00se @VodafoneUK @ThreeUK You should try o2. I’ve never had a single problem on my contract. And you get the o2 priority with some really good deals, and early release tickets for concerns, sports etc. I’ve never had a single extra charge. And their customer service is really good too.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Sorry to hear this I had an horrendous time trying to cancel a phone contract with Vodafone it took months well nearly a year and they kept saying it was cancelled and then sending me warning letters about unpaid amounts… and they never once said sorry!

My sister and mother were on the same account, took 2 months to finally cancel it after countless calls and promises. And when they finally did they cancelled it all leaving me unable to contact my grieving family

I would suggest that customers never enter into contracts but have monthly PAYG accounts which simply debit cc

COVID was a catalyst, but then companies realised customers were tolerating 1-2 hour waits, and that they could get away with "demand throttling" by understaffing call centres and then pocket the profits.
