The issue is you weren’t able to spot whether it was a scam number or not. So the question is why are BT as a company putting their customers through this? Took OVER 1 HOUR to raise a service request online to repair a vandalized external fibre connection, it should have taken 5 minutes, then the wrong address was assigned to the case and an engineer 85 miles away called to say he'd be there in a few minutes 🥴 Give me strength!
