Freeview recorders are still readily available for those that want them; if you're using Sky/Virgin etc. you're already NOT using the Freeview service that is 'under threat'.

Road tax was abolished in 1937. Road building and maintenance is paid by general taxation. Revenue from VED just goes into the chancellor’s pot.

Her smart TV supports Netflix, Prime, Sky, but even if she could afford those platforms, she would be terrified of touching a different button on the remote. She sleeps very little and the TV is her only companion. If she can’t return to her familiar menu, she panics. I’ve had desperate calls from her in the evening, petrified that she’s ‘broken’ her TV. 'Freely' is currently being touted as the IPTV replacement - From about £70 for a set-top box; this price will drop dramatically.

No BBC, No transmission network, no Freeview. This is why you have to pay the licence for all live TV.
