If you watch or record live TV on any channel - either through your TV or through a website - then you need a TV licence. This applies whether you receive Freesat, Freeview or a pay-TV service in your home, & whether or not you watch BBC channels.

We're required to pay an annual fee for a TV license but, if you don't pay, you can still use your TV. Cost varies, but it ranges from £0-£150. They do use scanning equipment to detect unregistered TVs.
