@jaxlfc_jj @YaTerrynorris70 It’s not restricted to the BBC. If you watch or record live TV on any channel - either through your TV or through a website - then you need a TV licence. This applies whether you receive Freesat, Freeview or a pay-TV service in your home, & whether or not you watch BBC channels.

  • gold123win reg morris (@gold123win) reported from Neston, England

@custardsmaster @JamesSm37912408 @EmmaKennedy Bigger point, do you access Freeview? Freeview (or to be precise, terrestrial television services) are transmitted on BBC owned multiplexes. No BBC also means the commercial channels disappear from terrestrial broadcast. Your TV licence literally pays for the transmission network

  • alistermcclure Alister McClure (he/him) 🏳️‍🌈🇪🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (@alistermcclure) reported

Remember, the #BBCLicenceFee doesn't just pay for BBC Broadcast services, but for the investment in research, infrastructure etc that enables free to air viewing via other platforms and services. Without BBC support freeview and freesat would probably collapse

  • FreeviewTV Freeview (@FreeviewTV) reported

@Ojosblue Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Freeview reception. So we can look into this for you, can you please provide your postcode and house name or number? Thanks, Dylan

  • jonwensley Jon Wensley (@jonwensley) reported

How would you, technically, make a TV service through an aerial work as a subscription service? Would you make people pay for a Sky/Virgin box to enable them to receive a BBC subscription service? What about the 10 million Freeview users and 1.5m people without internet access?

  • thatfoxxybloke David Foxx (@thatfoxxybloke) reported

@tomdesborough87 @Monkeymanb0b They don’t have too. They can remain on the freeview platform which has 4 stake holders. Losing one wouldn’t end the free service.

  • tomdesborough87 Tom Desborough (@tomdesborough87) reported

@thatfoxxybloke @Monkeymanb0b What makes you think ITV, C4, C5 and other Freeview channels wouldn't add a subscription model? ITV have already dabbled with it in their on demand service. Scrapping the license fee completely could end up costing households a lot more than they already pay.

  • p_chap_charles Peter Charles (@p_chap_charles) reported

@Paul_Baro @entoatucasa @gabyhinsliff How do you plan to get this subscription service to work with existing freeview TVs?

  • Matt_1269501 Matt Jenkins (@Matt_1269501) reported

@davidholtactor Well a licence isn't needed for radio, so if I paid 43p a day, that would be for half a dozen channels I never watch. The other 60 or so channels on Freeview are, erm ABSOLUTELY FREE. But cannot lawfully watch those, without funding the BBC!

@PhilJam50063624 Hi Phil, I am sorry to hear that you are having issue with your Freeview reception. So we can look into this for you, can you please DM us your postcode and house name or number? Thanks, Dylan

@tonypatt2000 Not wanting to help them, just destroy everything around them & reduce their freeview content by destroying what they, the gov,t, can,t fully control. The wrinkly dorries is spinning it to try to appeal to the meakest for her own govt,s gain, shameful.
