Stephen O'Donnell (@steve5424) reported from Glasgow, Scotland@apakula @O2 I would usually explain to the customer how our terms made it clear it was customers responsibility to end contract and also ofcom etc also advise customers to check banks accs regularly and monitor DDs. Then offer a max of 12 months refund as gesture of goodwill and close acc.

Sadly it seems it’s a well known problem: tariff upgrade gets a default data bolt-on, not the iPhone flavour, causing VVM to fail. Adding the iPhone bolt-on fixes it almost instantly. Sorted now, until next time.

That is frustrating. To issue default notices when the account is net clear is a disgrace. Please DM with a phone number where I can resolve this.

Get that and then take it to Ofcom. Sounds utterly ridiculous to credit you, not repay!
