@virginmedia 2. The 2.4ghs remained ok, our internet connection was fine. The intermittent problems are that we have a loss of WiFi connection and/or drop in performance. This seems to only to affect the WiFi devices and not the hardwired devices leading us to believe it’s an issue with the

Emmanuel – Big Tech & AI Investor (@EmmanuelInvest) reported

🚨 UK Regulator Fines Virgin Media £28 Million ($37.4M) Ofcom has slapped Virgin Media with a £28 million fine for systematically preventing customers from cancelling contracts over nearly three years (Jan 2022 – mid-Sept 2024). Key Findings: - Deliberate call-dropping tactics - Excessive and unnecessary call transfers - Repeatedly putting customers on hold for no reason Ofcom described the failings as systemic and repeated. Background: Virgin Media is a joint venture between Spain’s Telefónica and Liberty Global. This is the second major fine for Virgin Media recently (previously fined £23.8M in December for issues with telecare customers during landline migration). Impact: Another hit to Virgin Media’s reputation in the UK broadband/mobile market.

When my dad like 10 years ago tried to cancel his virgin media contract he crashed out harder than he did when he got divorced.

  • LRNA11
    LaurenA (@LRNA11) reported

@MartinSLewis Another major issue with Virgin Media (and possibly other similar providers) is that they don’t provide customers an option for “No Roll-on” at the end of the contract. Their reminders are puny and twice I got caught with paying almost double monthly rates after contract. 1/

  • SarahLudford
    Sarah Ludford 🇬🇧 🇮🇪🇪🇺 🇺🇦 (@SarahLudford) reported

@Ofcom “@virginmedia made it harder for customers to cancel their contracts and then did not fully cooperate with our investigation. ‘As a result, we are levelling our largest ever fine under our consumer protection rules for direct harm to consumers’.”

  • NewsTongueX
    NewsTongue (@NewsTongueX) reported

🔴 Ofcom fines Virgin Media £28m for blocking customer cancellations Virgin Media breached UK telecoms rules by deliberately dropping calls, transferring customers unnecessarily, and placing them on hold to prevent contract cancellations between January 2022 and September 2024. Ofcom received nearly 2,000 complaints and found the company's retention agents operated under a commission scheme that financially rewarded obstruction. • Fine of £28m — Ofcom's largest ever under consumer protection rules, reduced 30% after Virgin Media admitted fault and agreed to settle • Millions of calls "likely mishandled" during the three-year period

    Bill (@Bill72156026) reported

@IrishTimes What a joke. Would it actually be missed if it was wound down? Would virgin media be missed it it was wound down ? Only by the government. It’s clear from their own statements that they promote the government narrative while deliberately avoiding to challenge or question the government.
