@WeedenColin @legalhackette @PostOffice And who is responsible for the software. How can it not have been checked given so many discrepancies ? 1 or 2 maybe. First thing you do is replicate the issue

  • john_dudman John Dudman (@john_dudman) reported

@RevRichardColes When I lived in Llangwm, Pembrokeshire the woman who ran the village shop and post office was accused of this fraud. Cannot imagine her being guilty. She was clearly upset and frightened by the potential consequences. Damn you @PostOffice for putting her and others through this.

  • leannefoster Leanne🌸 (@leannefoster) reported

@PostOffice should hang their heads in shame, those poor people’s lives absolutely destroyed, family’s ruined, homes lost ,lives taken. I hope you will be compensating them substantially, not that money will ever replace what is lost, but will make their lives easier.

  • legalclaret legalclaret 💙 (@legalclaret) reported

@pjm1kbw @PostOffice It will surely require an enquiry to ensure this never happens again.

  • cpsmyth1 ciaran smyth (@cpsmyth1) reported

@PostOfficeNews @PostOffice That scandal was absolutely horrendous. Big corporations appear to have lost the run of themselves. More damage from them than benefit. Best wishes  to all those decent innocent people who suffered because of this abuse of power.

  • mariacrawford74 Maria Crawford (@mariacrawford74) reported

@TheVeganPunk @PostOffice It was a truly awful, long story - and hugely underreported. I'm sure many people hadn't heard about it before. Glad they've had their names cleared, finally, but they should never have been subjected to this.

  • imdsm Adam K Dean (@imdsm) reported

@rach0907 Also > The claimants’ lives were “irreparably ruined” after they were accused of stealing the money, with some losing their jobs, homes and marriages as a result, the court heard. I'll never do business with @PostOffice again!

  • wilsondan Dan Wilson (@wilsondan) reported

There's a worrying tone in the @PostOffice 'Horizon' story media coverage (esp on @BBCNews) that the problem was the technology. "It was the software." No! It's a story of institutional bullying, lying management, shameless cover up and self-interest. Humans are the villains.

  • robwatts Robert (@robwatts) reported

@SamJaneBastone @RoyalMail @PostOffice Some of those prosecutions did start under Royal Mail. Interesting bit of blame shifting by the PO chairman suggesting that they did try and stop prosecutions when they became separated as businesses. Awful business all round. Ruined lives for sure.

  • Schmiffy12 Bob Smith (@Schmiffy12) reported

I’m shocked to hear that the Police were never involved in the Post Office #Horizon scandal. How can an employer pursue someone even to court on a criminal allegation without involving the Police? Such disgraceful behaviour by @PostOffice
