Virgin Media Issues Reports Near Fazeley, England

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Fazeley and nearby locations:

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@kinoshitajona @ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Agreed, neither are secure and should never be used... however it's certainly possible to make an unbreakable MD5 password.

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@leicscyberaware @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong The irony here is 3 random words can be broken in as little as 40 seconds, maximum 50 minutes. A 10 character random password, by comparison, would take 7 weeks with the same hardware.

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong This isn't as bad as some would make out. 10 isn't ideal, but it's not insecure either. That's not to say you can't choose an insecure 10 character password however...

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Because "secure" requires a context which neither the OP nor yourself have given. 99% of my passwords are 12 chars, A-Z, a-z, 0-9. They're not being broken in my lifetime... so to claim 10 is sufficient to justify leaving is daft.

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@leicscyberaware @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong You're right, it's not good enough... but it's not insecure either. I debunked 3 random words years ago. Now *that* is poor advice.

  • ItsOnlyCaitlin Caitlin Parker🧜🏼‍♀️🧜🏼‍♀️ (@ItsOnlyCaitlin) reported from Lichfield, England

Wasting my data in my own house is the worst. @virginmedia are the worst 😭😭😭

  • MJ_Lorimer MJ (@MJ_Lorimer) reported from Birmingham, England

Thanks @virginmedia for renewing my contract for 12 months and then downgrading me and I loose all my HD channels! Your service is poor and unacceptable #virginmedia

  • GullyPlays Ben (@GullyPlays) reported from Birmingham, England

I’m sick of my internet going down for half a day every week. Should get something for the inconvenience. @virginmedia

  • unit_1974 🐺Wolfish (@unit_1974) reported from Birmingham, England

@MingSwift The TV service is great but if we can’t rely on our WiFi in a connected home, it’s not worth it. Have made a complaint. If they don’t offer an upgraded hub (which they’ve not before) and compensation/reduced bill (gone up by £14 since Sept), we’ll be gone. @virginmedia

  • ikonic_exposure Daniel Sturley (@ikonic_exposure) reported from Birmingham, England

    @virginmedia What would really help is a separate sales number to call and to speak with an agent straight away with no ‘system’ to navigate and who understands my disability and can help me to sign up if I want to :~}

  • Sammykins9486 Samantha (@Sammykins9486) reported from Birmingham, England

@virginmedia Tried the chat everyday for the past 5 days and it is not working. Due to recent changes with someone at household moving out I do not need the landline anymore, and wanted to discuss my options as I do not want to pay monthly for a service I am not using

  • unit_1974 🐺Wolfish (@unit_1974) reported from Birmingham, England

@squelchuk @MingSwift @virginmedia We have a good box. That took long enough to get upgraded. I would try a superhub3… but I want a signal that gets around the house too, as well as reliability!

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong No, bash both :) As I said, it's a poor policy by comparison but I'd rather advise the user on how to choose a secure 10 character password than waste time preaching security to a social media staffer :)

  • unit_1974 🐺Wolfish (@unit_1974) reported from Birmingham, England

And once again we are unable to use our @virginmedia wifi. When I called customer services today they took nearly 10min to answer, asked the same basic questions repeatedly and then cut me off without even starting to resolve anything! Bloody useless. Issues since May 2018.

  • MGDTWITWATCH Michael Grahame-Dunn (@MGDTWITWATCH) reported from Nuneaton, England

@virginmedia awful service and even worse customer service -

  • MJ_Lorimer MJ (@MJ_Lorimer) reported from Birmingham, England

I also can’t get anyone to help resolve this as “your closed” apparently @virginmedia

  • JillyBrum Jillybrum (@JillyBrum) reported from Birmingham, England

@virginmedia Phone and TV down in B24 area, wondering if the power cut immediately before was due to work you’re doing.

  • HelenD132 Sarah Duncombe (@HelenD132) reported from West Bromwich, England

@virginmedia No broadband service, apparently. Status checker says everything is fine, but I'm not convinced. Could I DM my postcode please.

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @kinoshitajona @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Scott, we use the term "unbreakable" in the trade to imply the credentials cannot be broken in a timeframe which realistically presents a risk to the user... it's not an OED term. Sure, if we're talking to an end-user, you either use a different term or explain the meaning

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong I didn't say it was perfectly fine... but it's certainly possible to pick a secure 10 character PW within those constraints. I was a VM customer for 2 decades... I can't recall ever losing sleep over this.

  • thesmallsie alan small (@thesmallsie) reported

@virginmedia 2 days I’ve spent on the phone to youse and all I’ve got now is slow internet and no 2.4 working on my router, maybe I should get @SkyHelpTeam to sort it out for me because your team are a complete joke

  • AppletonTony Tony Appleton (@AppletonTony) reported

@virginmedia To continue - this means that I have paid extra monies to you - you are now demanding another @£10 even though actually you owe me. Your customer service team agreed you were in the wrong but I am still be asked for the money

  • alcomatt spiry2sick (@alcomatt) reported

@MrReaver85 @virginmedia Yes. It is not isolated. Many users are reporting simar issues but no recognition of a problem from the company.

  • beaduncan_ Bea Duncan (@beaduncan_) reported

@virginmedia We’ve called every day this week and are being told that there is no earlier appointment, despite the fact we did have one yesterday that never happened. We really can’t wait this long for the services to be up and running…

  • JJarchwaysm JJ (@JJarchwaysm) reported

@virginmedia I’ve told them that the WiFi doesn’t work even if I stand next to the box. It’s been two years of hell and now I want to cancel I have to pay.

  • alcomatt spiry2sick (@alcomatt) reported

@virginmedia It's been the same yesterday now and it's down to 1Mbps downstream now. Yet no reports of any issues on your website.

  • MissyAmandaW the lovely Miss Amanda (@MissyAmandaW) reported

@virginmedia - no broadband, phone or tv since Thursday and just a recorded message saying you are aware of the issue. The issue I have now is no data left on my mobile phone and working from home…. A response would be greatly appreciated

  • AppletonTony Tony Appleton (@AppletonTony) reported

@virginmedia Yes - I gave notice that I was leaving several months ago but even though my call to cancel was registered on your system it was not actioned by you. When I called to check it was only then was I told about it so my termination was delayed 6 wks so I have to pay 6 wks extra

  • andysharpsky Andrzej Ostrowski (@andysharpsky) reported

@virginmedia Did and called service line, no help.

  • CameronPlaysYT1 CameronPlaysYT (@CameronPlaysYT1) reported
