Tis I (@ephemeralhype) reported@Screwfix @AskNationwide after two weeks i’m still having problems trying to place orders using a nationwide card. As soon as it gets to the part where the order goes through it goes to a white square and doesn’t process. Yet works with the Barclay card I’ve got.

It does sound like there is a known IT issue in LSG and it's definitely affecting lots of Nationwide customers (i.e. not just me). The fact that something this fundamental persists after 9 months clearly means it's not getting the focus it needs.
