Perhaps by now the manager of the @PostOffice has realised that lying about being the manager might have been stupid. If he has any brains at all he’ll already have a new job 🌝

  • dongingerillo
Gingerillo (@dongingerillo) reported from London, England

@ADTherapyCoach @PostOffice Silly question, but do you call the customer helpline regularly to kick up a fuss? It seems more than a coincidence that these were delivered with a few days after calling virtually every day last week

  • mmcdstudio
Michael McDonough (@mmcdstudio) reported from London, England

@PostOffice the post office Lewisham is a farce. Hardly any staff, long queues, little help and massively over complicated touch screen self service tills just to make a simple parcel postage. Ridiculous.

@PostOffice Since the service has moved into existing shops the service has been far better! Keep up the good work. Ignore the vile comments on here. We've still got a way to go obviously.

@PostOffice I was passing by so didn't need it today. But this is just one of many complaints locals have about thus sub Post Office which includes rude staff.

@chrish9070 @PostOffice @beisgovuk @scullyp @BBCPanorama @BBCRadio4 @BBCfileon4 @PrivateEyeNews @nickwallis @MetroBank_Help I’ve had to make a complaint about them. I banked happily with Lloyds since around 1988 without a single issues and then I had the misfortune 2 be handed to @TSB and that’s been a litany of misery - some people just don’t respect the Irish and there is no getting away from this.

@stugoo17 @PostOffice They are no better than Fujitsu, noses burned deep into the trough and to busy to look up and see the damage and pain they are causing.

@PostOffice I have two parcels posted using the signed for service on 15 December that have yet to leave Mottingham Post Office. I understand you’re busy but any idea why it’s been 6 days and no delivery?

  • dongingerillo

@ADTherapyCoach @PostOffice The replacement post has been delivered this morning… I cannot help but wonder what kind of confusion this will cause now.

  • RuthRobinsonLon
Ruth Robinson (@RuthRobinsonLon) reported from Islington, England

@chrish9070 @PostOffice @beisgovuk @scullyp @BBCPanorama @BBCRadio4 @BBCfileon4 @PrivateEyeNews @nickwallis I am having a terrible time with the post office in #Holloway - the complaints systems seem to be corrupt. The manager of the post office lied about being the manager. It’s a shambles. I’m doing a charge back via @MetroBank_Help for £45 that has embroiled me in 4 hours of admin

  • dongingerillo

I am starting to think that the Royal Mail International **** show is going to happen all over again. Item sent to Ireland sent Saturday morning. Still only saying “we’ve got it” on tracking. #badservice @RoyalMailHelp @PostOffice

They @MetroBank_Help keep asking me for the same information over and over. I put in in an e mail as they request and then they ask for it in a letter ! It’s a joke ! One of their customer service chaps was so patronising to me ( its the Irish accent)

  • GirlScout27

@Irmenberga @lily_lna @PostOffice I've worked in pubs where we've refused service to men in shorts and no shirt. This is common practice and absolutely nothing to do with religion. I support the principle that business owners can refuse service, and they legally can.

  • ArturNadol7566
    Artur Nadolny (@ArturNadol7566) reported

BINNED BY THE POST OFFICE Fiona Elliott and her husband bought the shop, post office and house in Clady, County Tyrone in 2005. Their plan was simple. Run it well, retire comfortably, leave something solid behind for the kids. Instead the Post Office (@PostOffice) handed them a computer that lied for a living. The Horizon system started throwing up discrepancies almost straight away. £20 here, £60 there, then more. Fiona kept plugging the gaps with her own money from the shop till, convinced she or her staff had made a mistake somewhere. She rang the helpline. She asked for an audit. Nobody came. So she did what any exhausted small business owner does when a multi billion pound state owned company won't lift a finger. She went searching through bins at night, checking if scratch cards or lottery slips explained the missing money. They never did. The money was never missing. In 2009 two auditors finally turned up. They spent a couple of hours going through the post office, then told her there was a £6,000 shortfall on the system and she needed to pay it right then or she'd be looking at a criminal offence. She asked how it had appeared. She'd been putting in hundreds of pounds a week for years and it had never shown up before. They told her it didn't matter, they wanted the £6,000 in cash right there and then. She didn't have that kind of money in the shop till, so she asked to run to the bank. Refused. The bank was shut for lunch and they weren't waiting around for it to reopen. She offered a cheque instead, the normal way she paid every supplier at the time. Refused again. Cash only. So she went and borrowed it off her brother, who ran the car business down the road, handed the cash straight over, and walked away without a receipt. Read that back. A state owned company sent two people to threaten a woman with a criminal charge over money that never actually went missing, refused a cheque, refused to wait an hour for the bank, took cash off her brother's business, and didn't even bother writing her a receipt. She paid. Of course she paid. Nobody wants to find out the hard way that Horizon's word beats theirs in a courtroom too. Rural post offices were being closed around then, so she took redundancy and rented the shop out. The new tenant hit the exact same phantom shortfalls. The bank repossessed the lot and sold it for £40,000. Fiona and her husband had paid £322,000 for it. The bank didn't stop there either, it went on to repossess the buy-to-let properties they owned as well. The building she once planned to retire on is boarded up now, sitting in the middle of the village like a monument nobody in charge wanted to admit they built. She testified to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry (@PostOffInquiry) in 2022. She is still fighting for compensation today, offered only 5% of what she believes she is owed, turned down on appeal three times, and pointed toward the Horizon Shortfall Scheme, which she says she has little faith in after wasting years on it already. Nobody stole a penny. The Post Office just needed someone to blame, and a rural shopkeeper searching her own bins at midnight was easier to accuse than a broken system built by Fujitsu (@fujitsu_uk) and defended for decades by executives who knew exactly what it was doing.
