I've discovered that if you're not with Virgin for broadband you have Openreach, they service all others from Sky to EE, TalkTalk to BT. Also, Openreach outsource work so beware dodgy contractors!

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I had a similar problem with TalkTalk after my mother died. I told them that she was 'Deceased'. The person at the other end then asked when it was possible to speak to her! Took a solicitor to get rid of the problems.

@TalkTalk I’ve just spoken to her. Yesterday she called (45 min hold) only to be told ONCE again to unplug the router yet AGAIN then tried to get her £75.00 but surprisingly nobody could help her. Why oh why is it so difficult??

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK We helped a friend of our daughter out for a while by paying for her TalkTalk broadband account. Everything was fine until it came to the time to cancel it and then we went through months of hassle trying to get it cancelled as their processes just couldn’t deal with it.
