@virginmedia It was back on again later in the day but very difficult in this current situation where we're told it's safer to work from home but then find we're unable to as our broadband provide can't support this.

  • rafthemaster
Richard Frame (@rafthemaster) reported from Burgess Hill, England

@virginmedia Looked for a moment like it was back, both the TiVo and router self restarted - is this meant to happen as part of work that may be being done?, unfortunately hasn’t resulted in restoration of service. Confirmed on service page it’s still an outage in the area

  • Mrs_Spurs_1882
Lisa 💜💜 (@Mrs_Spurs_1882) reported from Horley, England

@virginmedia trying to report a landline fault. Your web help couldn't be anymore unhelpful and I can stand anymore of your on hold music on the phone. Please advise on what I can do.

  • Skiddles1985

@matt_johnson_89 @virginmedia I would take BT/Sky back in an instant if I could, bloody trees blocking the signal means I can’t!

  • korondijoco
korondi joco (@korondijoco) reported from Horley, England

@virginmedia At that time only 2 devices were connected. The wifi is pretty much useless, constantly loosing connection. The speed over wifi is extremely low. Do you think it might be an issue with the router?

  • deanwoods
Dean Woods (@deanwoods) reported from Horley, England

@virginmedia we're getting really slow WiFi speeds on all Apple devices using the new Hub 3.0. Android devices are okay. It's just iPhones and iPads that are on a go slow. Any advice/tips to solve this?

  • emcooper2
Emma Cooper (@emcooper2) reported from Tandridge, England

@virginmedia I changed my direct debit date to 30th of each month and you failed to tell me it wasn’t going to be effective until next months billing cycle. Now I have charges from my bank. Not a good experience, especially as a new customer. I want my bank charges refunding

  • itsmeinleek
Adam Dolphin (@itsmeinleek) reported from Redhill, England

@virginmedia online to@one of your agents for an hour now, it’s a joke. 6+ minutes to answer any question. I bet if I wanted to upgrade the conversation would be quicker. Shocking service.

  • rafthemaster
Richard Frame (@rafthemaster) reported from Burgess Hill, England

@dazzleeds @virginmedia That’s because the router will auto connect without password to show you a diagnostics page to let you self test for issues (no good here as it’s on VM side) once service is back the router will resume normal security mode

  • BAAAAAAAAAAAAB
Ben Barrett (@BAAAAAAAAAAAAB) reported from Crawley, England

Hi @virginmedia just wondering why after upgrading to faster speed, new hub and more money each month why our internet signal is worse than it was before?

  • melon_h
Helen Rimmer 💙 🔶️ (@melon_h) reported from Burgess Hill, England

Hi @virginmedia any news on why our broadband and TV haven't worked since 7pm yesterday in Burgess Hill? No comms and status update just says you are aware with an expected fix moving on in time...

  • CharlesB2T
Charles Brittain (@CharlesB2T) reported from Burgess Hill, England

@virginmedia I am bitterly disappointed that you have only been able to provide a broadband service for a week and now there's nothing. My work relies on fast reliable broadband. If this doesn't get fixed this Monday, I'll be seeking another provider.

  • TruthAsylum121
    (Re)Search & Destroy (@TruthAsylum121) reported

THREAD 9 — COMMUNITY CALLING AND THE MONEY BEHIND THE DEVICES The Community Calling programme gives us another important part of the story. Virgin Media O2 and Hubbub have worked together to collect and redistribute unwanted smartphones. Migrant Help has been one of the organisations receiving devices for asylum seekers and refugees. Then there is the Tech Lending Community Fund. The first phase was worth £400,000 and supported charity partners to establish tablet-lending hubs. The projects included organisations such as Thames Reach, the Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation, Willowacre Trust, Refuge and Leeds Refugee Forum, with tablets and O2 data being made available through the programme. In Swansea, around 700 donated phones were distributed through a Community Calling project, with O2 providing 12 months of free data, calls and texts. Swansea Asylum Seekers Support made 127 referrals to the scheme in 2021. Its records also show £8,175 spent on phone top-ups, covering 1,160 £10 top-ups. There was another £2,400 provided by Hay Brecon Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees. The funding came through organisations including the Moondance Foundation, Comic Relief/SCVS Emergency Fund and Welsh Government/SCVS Integration Care Fund. This is where the investigation starts moving beyond technology companies. There is philanthropic money. There is council money. There is Government money. There is corporate money. And there are charities distributing the resulting technology.
