@StroescuGabriel @SamWall59028621 @xxIndyRef2xx @virginmedia That is why you should never use wifi. I have 3PCs, 2 consoles plus 2 x 4k TVs with V6 boxes. I use Cat6 on my PC and console (the rest is cat5) ethernet cabled into my own router, then into my Hub3 in modem mode. No issues with ping/lag here.

@shrutinha @TalkTalk @MoneySavingExp They’re shocking, download speeds never anything like I was paying for and customer service awful. I left for a great deal and service with @virginmedia

@Qxater @Vivid_Web @xxIndyRef2xx @virginmedia That is all to do with the routing used. Baring in mind the entire back bone of the UK internet is controlled by the post office/BT Openwoe, so anyone piggy backing over BT would have a better ping. BUT ping is not the only issue. Being a gamer, give me VM 350 gaming pack over BT

@ObsessiveJohn @virginmedia They don’t have any competitors for speed, but that means customer service is complacent. The strongest guarantee with them is that you will not get the speed you pay for during peak times (evenings and weekends), and they won’t care!

@virginmedia 1/2 It’s with all devices, we’ve tried everything, we’ve reset, we’ve turned everything off and on again, we’ve switched from 5ghz to 2.4ghz and back again … it’s … just … so … slow! 😫😫😫 And I don’t get why we should need to be IT experts to get a good service …

@virginmedia any reason why it’s taking you 4 hours to fix a problem in our area. This is the service you expect us as existing customers to pay through the nose for. But when we ring up and complain you say your deals are for new customers only!

@virginmedia Unreliable & intermittent Broadband, no Sky Atlantic but most importantly very poor customer service as justified by this thread - I’d rather rather speak to a person real time

@EE Hi Mark. In the last few months, signal has been on and off like a yoyo, with total downtime last week which made working from home difficult. @virginmedia also died too, so wasn't a great day 😅 Other half uses Voxi and had no issues with connectivity.

@virginmedia So can I commit to a start date of 6 months time. Get an engineer out next week, which will save them a lot of work down the line. And if I need my start date to be sooner I can change this?

@sturdyAlex @_davevans_ @axleranges Ah, OK. So, apart from this latest major incident which is unusual, that does suggest another possible systemic problem. Virgin Media use a completely different local network to all other broadband providers. So it could well be worth switching when you're out of contract.
-
psytcp

@virginmedia This is nothing to do with how I feel. This is to do with the fact that VM has no clue even to estimate the fix. 4 to 36 hours and that could change to 72 for all I know, and they don't seem to know either.
