@virginmedia What does Virgin do for disabled people, when their internet goes down?

  • lurkinhead
Martin Travis (@lurkinhead) reported from Birkenhead, England

@virginmedia Okay, but with respect, the problem is your call centre say different stuff every time, which inevitably bears no resemblance to reality. Later, VM deny those conversations ever took place and there is no written evidence to back up what was agreed. That's what I am after here?

  • MarkLangshaw
Mark Langshaw (@MarkLangshaw) reported from Liverpool, England

@virginmedia Hello, my broadband was supposed to be installed on 6th Sept but your engineer only did half a job and ****** off. When I call up to find out when you're coming back to finish my installation, I can't get a straight answer and nobody calls me back! Shite service!

@virginmedia OK Thanks. A technician will be visiting us tomorrow, though I suspect that the fault is in your exchange switch. My point is that you should keep repairs and sales separate. A customer with a serious phone problem is unlikely to buy extra services at that time.

THREAD 9 — COMMUNITY CALLING AND THE MONEY BEHIND THE DEVICES The Community Calling programme gives us another important part of the story. Virgin Media O2 and Hubbub have worked together to collect and redistribute unwanted smartphones. Migrant Help has been one of the organisations receiving devices for asylum seekers and refugees. Then there is the Tech Lending Community Fund. The first phase was worth £400,000 and supported charity partners to establish tablet-lending hubs. The projects included organisations such as Thames Reach, the Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation, Willowacre Trust, Refuge and Leeds Refugee Forum, with tablets and O2 data being made available through the programme. In Swansea, around 700 donated phones were distributed through a Community Calling project, with O2 providing 12 months of free data, calls and texts. Swansea Asylum Seekers Support made 127 referrals to the scheme in 2021. Its records also show £8,175 spent on phone top-ups, covering 1,160 £10 top-ups. There was another £2,400 provided by Hay Brecon Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees. The funding came through organisations including the Moondance Foundation, Comic Relief/SCVS Emergency Fund and Welsh Government/SCVS Integration Care Fund. This is where the investigation starts moving beyond technology companies. There is philanthropic money. There is council money. There is Government money. There is corporate money. And there are charities distributing the resulting technology.

@JimMooreJourno CEO is too busy counting his £1 mil package to give a ****, and Burnham shows no interest in dealing with it. Amazing that it's a merry-go-round of useless bastards buggering up companies; he used to be at British Gas, equal only to Virgin Media for dissatisfied customers.

@virginmedia New contract Jul 31. Netflix completely broken, web throwing errors, and profile is showing an incorrect phone number that isn't mine. Called, used WhatsApp, zero help. Logged formal complaint and got a generic 28-day wait. Unacceptable customer service. Fix this.

@andyburnham Just keep issuing massive fines to these companies like you did with Virgin Media until these companies make it much less complicated to cancel their subscriptions.

@andyburnham PLEASE READ THIS TWEET EVERYONE. IF ANY VIRGIN MEDIA STAFF AT BAGULEY MANCHESTER CALL CENTRE WHERE I WORKED WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR SLANDERING ME / FRAMING ME. Investigation Findings The regulatory investigation covered calls made between January 1, 2022, and September 11, 2024. Ofcom found that MILLIONS of customer service interactions were mishandled to prevent or delay cancellations. Specific tactics included: • Deliberately dropping or hanging up calls when customers asked to cancel. Putting callers on hold for no reason to frustrate them Excessive and unnecessary call transfers between departments. Using a two-tier retention system where only specific agents were allowed to process final cancellations. THIS LOT ARE CONFIRMED CRUEL SCAMMERS
