Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Burton upon Trent and nearby locations:

  • karen_64frost ♥ Maesie & Oban ♥ (@karen_64frost) reported from Ibstock, England

@virginmedia Rotten lousy spiteful behaviour. All because I have the freedom of choice as to whom my service provider will be. Virgin, you’ve done a sterling job in holding things up.....childish. Well done. Disgraceful.

  • ubermodd spooky sad face 🙁🎃 (@ubermodd) reported from Lichfield, England

why is virgin media down though

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@leicscyberaware @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong You're right, it's not good enough... but it's not insecure either. I debunked 3 random words years ago. Now *that* is poor advice.

  • timmo1963 Tim Moore (@timmo1963) reported from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, England

Well @virginmedia my TiVo box is stuck in starting up mode (2 hours) and needs a technician, not available until Tuesday. Piss poor service and your telephone manner leaves a lot to be desired. Waiting for you to get in touch 🤬

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong This isn't as bad as some would make out. 10 isn't ideal, but it's not insecure either. That's not to say you can't choose an insecure 10 character password however...

  • karen_64frost ♥ Maesie & Oban ♥ (@karen_64frost) reported from Ibstock, England

@virginmedia Absolutely disgusted with this service. Decided to change to another service provider, given 30 day notice only to find Virgin will not release the all important TELEPHONE NUMBER before 30 days up. How SPITEFUL Thanks for that😡

  • ryau3 Ron Yau (@ryau3) reported from Repton, England

Writing this using O2 mobile network at home because my @virginmedia fibre is @unreliable. Cannot get to the internet or stream tv but on mobile data it was effortless. Considering going back to BT as they seem to be more consistent.

  • Neilelse1974 Neil else (@Neilelse1974) reported from Chellaston, England

@virginmedia That does not answer the question I spoke to your representative, ‘what is the best price for loyalty you can offer me for the bigger bundle ‘ can you please help me on this. Thanks

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong I didn't say it was perfectly fine... but it's certainly possible to pick a secure 10 character PW within those constraints. I was a VM customer for 2 decades... I can't recall ever losing sleep over this.

  • ryau3 Ron Yau (@ryau3) reported from Repton, England

@virginmedia Reboot will help for a while but have to stop all in the family who still have signal for streaming radio, Xbox or watching Tv on the TiVo every time. How inconvenient is this for all due to a @unreliable service provided by @virginmedia. Had many other issues before as well...

  • ItsOnlyCaitlin Caitlin Parker🧜🏼‍♀️🧜🏼‍♀️ (@ItsOnlyCaitlin) reported from Lichfield, England

Wasting my data in my own house is the worst. @virginmedia are the worst 😭😭😭

  • ryau3 Ron Yau (@ryau3) reported from Repton, England

@virginmedia I am having the issue now where I cannot update my apps or use twitter through the Wi-fi. But I am streaming tv. @frustrated. Why do I suffer and stop to reboot the router and paying for unreliable service!!

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@kinoshitajona @ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Agreed, neither are secure and should never be used... however it's certainly possible to make an unbreakable MD5 password.

  • dazfuller Darren Fuller (@dazfuller) reported from West Hallam, England

@virginmedia And that information is exactly the problem and the thing which needs reviewing by your security teams. It's terrible advice!

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @kinoshitajona @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Scott, we use the term "unbreakable" in the trade to imply the credentials cannot be broken in a timeframe which realistically presents a risk to the user... it's not an OED term. Sure, if we're talking to an end-user, you either use a different term or explain the meaning

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Because "secure" requires a context which neither the OP nor yourself have given. 99% of my passwords are 12 chars, A-Z, a-z, 0-9. They're not being broken in my lifetime... so to claim 10 is sufficient to justify leaving is daft.

  • ryau3 Ron Yau (@ryau3) reported from Repton, England

@virginmedia I have a hub 3.0 and showing white light. No change to the light with the issue.

  • bond_gary gary 'uk' bond (@bond_gary) reported from Hilton, England

@RockandRollSue @virginmedia I got rid my contract with virgin due to a bad reception, it took three months... each time I contacted them to cancel( when I could get through) they said it was all sorted, but they hadn’t done a thing, in the end I agreed to going pay as you go and just never used it again.

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong No, bash both :) As I said, it's a poor policy by comparison but I'd rather advise the user on how to choose a secure 10 character password than waste time preaching security to a social media staffer :)

  • Paul_Reviews Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England

@leicscyberaware @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong The irony here is 3 random words can be broken in as little as 40 seconds, maximum 50 minutes. A 10 character random password, by comparison, would take 7 weeks with the same hardware.

Virgin Media Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • ImberVarsha Varsha Imber (@ImberVarsha) reported

@virginmedia Yes service status is showing an issue in my area. But for it to take 4 days to fix isn’t good. Why will it take that long to fix.

  • IslingtonChap Tim Chapman (@IslingtonChap) reported

@David_Goodhart Don’t ask, David. Hours and hours on the phone to Virgin Media support, but I still can’t find the button for iPlayer on my iPad. Totally useless.

  • dario_dewet superdario.eth (@dario_dewet) reported

Hey @virginmedia - Very considerate of you to be down on the day of the tube strike...

  • MaggieH_UK Maggie (@MaggieH_UK) reported

@virginmedia I don’t really know how else to describe the issue other than it is buffering constantly I think

  • rick__uk Rick (@rick__uk) reported

@virginmedia Nope. I’m going to cancel my DD. And move to another provider.

  • SharpshotII Matt (@SharpshotII) reported

@virginmedia Intermittent signal for the last week

  • Pogit Richard Adams (@Pogit) reported

@virginmedia I think some urgent training is required from the ground up! I’ve spoke to 4 different people and been told it’s four different things either way Virgin Landlines are now useless as when broadbands down you cannot make any urgent calls to any priority services!

  • mommi84 Tommaso Soru (@mommi84) reported

@virginmedia Thanks. I received an email saying that the problem was on your side and has now been solved.

  • FooWhiter Andy C (Legacy Fan) (@FooWhiter) reported

@virginmedia I honestly can say I've never had my intelligence insulted as much as your customer services has insulted me by saying I'd agreed to pay £62 a month for broadband. Its not good enough & people need to know what they are getting into.I was warned on social media before I joined tbh

  • rossgrange budgie (@rossgrange) reported

@virginmedia Yep… 45 mins on the phone and I’m sorted. Lovely people but you have worst customer service process around. Just pray nothing goes wrong with virgin. Thanks anyway
