Phoned @virginmedia tonight to cancel, as my price was going to £74 from £55 a month. Best they could offer was £60 a month even though as a new customer it is currently £50 a month! I was told if they offered their current customers those prices, they’d go out of business...

@virginmedia down in #Basingstoke RG21 - call to find out its out between 10am and 3pm due to network improvements. Surely such a significant outage he should come with prior warning - how to damage #CX ! Could have been a great #CX if communicated well...

  • skearney7
Stuart Kearney (@skearney7) reported from Basingstoke, England

@virginmedia Not really. I have made arrangements to bring my account up to date and close it as I am a responsible person. However as a result of the U Switch service not working. I have paid you £150 extra for a service that I have not used. So from my point of view I am very frustrated

@virginmedia moved house today, supposed to have been reconnected but you have a problem you knew about for days. Arrive and tell me not today mate! I’ve gotta go get data from #Vodafone now. After 20 years, it’s like my wife leaving.

  • Gazimoff
Gareth “Gazimoff” Harmer (@Gazimoff) reported from Basingstoke, England

@virginmedia That’s right. We’d moved house and we’re hoping to keep you with us, but there’s been over a month of delays (issues with current cable). I need it for work, so I’ve been forced to cancel and organise alternatives.

Virgin Media Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • damienpooley
    Damien Pooley (@damienpooley) reported

@virginmedia a few weeks ago I had some broadband issues and was told a new hub would be dispatched to me. I still haven’t received it, and my account says I don’t have any open orders. I tried to contact VM via chat, but (twice) the agents said nothing when connected!

  • AgnstModFball

@Hughesy_B @virginmedia Worst company in the UK

  • Alexand68647317
    Alexander Dumas 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (@Alexand68647317) reported

@DeviateDefiant @virginmedia @MoneySupermkt I had a very similar experience with them. They are only interested in new customers and not retaining the ones they already have. I left, pay a fraction of what I used to, and will never do business with them again. Great business model for going bust.

  • je_durrant
    James Durrant (@je_durrant) reported

I’ve had it with @virginmedia No service since 10 Jul and it won’t be fixed until 17 Aug. They can’t give me a 5G modem despite being joined with O2 and say I should be happy with the £10 p/d Ofcom comp; that doesn’t help me do work. £800 to cancel my contract, it’s a racket

  • viewfromhk
    Robby Yung ⦿⦿⦿ (@viewfromhk) reported

@0xsachi I think "moat" is just a polite way of saying monopoly. First mover advantage builds a brand and customer stickiness, and I think this should be the goal, personally. But all these anti-competitive practices like making cancelling services ridiculously hard (hello @virginmedia ) or walling the garden once you get enough users (hello @facebook Open Graph) should be cracked down on, in my opinion.

  • chrislove_89
    Chris Love (@chrislove_89) reported

@virginmedia 4x since I’ve moved across from BT, the service has been completely down in my area, this in space of just a few months. This has affected exam revision, kids bedtime routines, among other things. Terrible, pathetic service and can’t wait until my contract expires!

  • NothingLane
    Richard Bignell (@NothingLane) reported

@trapdoor456 @virginmedia Nope, but much the same story. Dumped useless Virgin years ago. Now with @zeninternet. Once you start a contract, the price NEVER increases. They're a UK company, so absolutely no overseas call centres and the tech service has been first class.

  • nickncs_cP
    Nick S. (nickncs) (@nickncs_cP) reported

@virginmedia something is wrong with your internet network. maybe DNS server issue? some sites down on all devices but able to reach them if using a vpn.

  • Jamaal162
    Jamaal (@Jamaal162) reported

@jonoread @ajzxne They knew owned and run by the same company.. virgin media 02… literally just a subsidiary branded to capture a different market ie the ones who are smart enough to not pay 3 to 4x the amount for the same service

  • trapdoor456
    Berk (@trapdoor456) reported

@virginmedia @RicardoEyes Maybe show decent customer service when you are contacted about issues initially, not just when people have had enough & leave 🤷
