@dgwbirch @Barclays Looks familiar. @HSBC_UK does the same thing. Go over your daily payment limit and, rather than say that, you get a indecipherable error message leaving you to imagine it’s an IT issue or worse. Why are established banks so bad at this stuff!?

It never ceases to amaze me that a full service bank @HSBC_UK can be so unhelpful. I only wanted to pay in a cheque (rarity I know) into my @firstdirect account, but it was all so much hassle. Machines not working, no paying in slips. Unhelpful staff! FD you are so much better!!

Opened a jade account with @HSBC_UK after making a move from @StarlingBank. Very first transaction from the new account…Fail! Transaction seems to have gone thru, but get an error message saying there was a problem!Hate to compare but Starling App was so perfectly engineered

@_EmmaGH @HSBC_UK FCA complaint may be viable - they're simply not meant to leave you that long. I'd look at Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) in broad terms but I'm sure there's a thing about prompt response from a contact centre.

@HSBC_UK called the number recommended on here to change address, after 35 minutes, a rude agent told me to ring the number in the back of my card, wouldn’t help me in the slightest. Found card, it’s the same number!!! On hold again for another 15 minutes then am disconnected 🤬

@_EmmaGH @HSBC_UK I gave up on them years ago, and I used to work for them. Online is dated. Customer service is awful. No US branches. Then there is the long string of egregious bad banking practices. Money laundering, rate rigging, offshoring and tax evasion. I’d change banks if I were you.

If @HSBC_UK are blocking cryptocurrency transactions, consider me no longer a customer. Will update you all today if I get some clarity on the issue. I know this applies to their trading platform but I'm hearing rumours it also applies to debit card transactions.

@_EmmaGH @HSBC_UK They told me it had been blocked due to ‘unusual online activity’ even though they didn’t attempt to contact me to verify it. They removed the block after my call. A day or two later, I received an automated text about ‘suspicious activity’ with my card.
