Have reported this to a helpful @virginmedia, but finding out ‘advice’ online pretty useless. Sit and wait it out seems to be the solution.

The short answer is I had an issue with my broadband outside of an area outage, which was acknowledged by 2 phone calls I made to get a tech out. Each time, my appointment was cancelled even though the area outage was closed as resolved.
