lorraine smith (@lorraineesm) reported from Wolverhampton, England
@virginmedia your customer services are a joke half hour on the phone spoke to two different people being passed back and forth
-
Samantha (@Sammykins9486) reported from Birmingham, England
@virginmedia Tried the chat everyday for the past 5 days and it is not working. Due to recent changes with someone at household moving out I do not need the landline anymore, and wanted to discuss my options as I do not want to pay monthly for a service I am not using
-
AVRIL WATKINS (@DANCINWANDERER) reported from Dudley, England
@virginmedia Yes we do - as soon as we turnoff the telly we lose signal and we have no Internet upstairs at all - very unhappy resorted to watching telly on the iPad
-
🐺Wolfish (@unit_1974) reported from Birmingham, England
And once again we are unable to use our @virginmedia wifi. When I called customer services today they took nearly 10min to answer, asked the same basic questions repeatedly and then cut me off without even starting to resolve anything! Bloody useless. Issues since May 2018.

Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong No, bash both :) As I said, it's a poor policy by comparison but I'd rather advise the user on how to choose a secure 10 character password than waste time preaching security to a social media staffer :)
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@leicscyberaware @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong You're right, it's not good enough... but it's not insecure either. I debunked 3 random words years ago. Now *that* is poor advice.
-
Jillybrum (@JillyBrum) reported from Birmingham, England
@virginmedia Phone and TV down in B24 area, wondering if the power cut immediately before was due to work you’re doing.
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong I didn't say it was perfectly fine... but it's certainly possible to pick a secure 10 character PW within those constraints. I was a VM customer for 2 decades... I can't recall ever losing sleep over this.
-
Caitlin Parker🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️ (@ItsOnlyCaitlin) reported from Lichfield, England
Wasting my data in my own house is the worst. @virginmedia are the worst 😭😭😭
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@ScottMcGready @kinoshitajona @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Scott, we use the term "unbreakable" in the trade to imply the credentials cannot be broken in a timeframe which realistically presents a risk to the user... it's not an OED term. Sure, if we're talking to an end-user, you either use a different term or explain the meaning
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Because "secure" requires a context which neither the OP nor yourself have given. 99% of my passwords are 12 chars, A-Z, a-z, 0-9. They're not being broken in my lifetime... so to claim 10 is sufficient to justify leaving is daft.
-
🐺Wolfish (@unit_1974) reported from Birmingham, England
@squelchuk @MingSwift @virginmedia We have a good box. That took long enough to get upgraded. I would try a superhub3… but I want a signal that gets around the house too, as well as reliability!
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@kinoshitajona @ScottMcGready @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @PWTooStrong Agreed, neither are secure and should never be used... however it's certainly possible to make an unbreakable MD5 password.
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@leicscyberaware @SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong The irony here is 3 random words can be broken in as little as 40 seconds, maximum 50 minutes. A 10 character random password, by comparison, would take 7 weeks with the same hardware.
-
Paul Moore (@Paul_Reviews) reported from Burntwood, England
@SCwithGin @virginmedia @NCSC @troyhunt @ScottMcGready @PWTooStrong This isn't as bad as some would make out. 10 isn't ideal, but it's not insecure either. That's not to say you can't choose an insecure 10 character password however...
-
lorraine smith (@lorraineesm) reported from Wolverhampton, England
@virginmedia your customer services are a joke spoke to 3 different people on the phone now half hour still on hold
-
🐺Wolfish (@unit_1974) reported from Birmingham, England
@MingSwift The TV service is great but if we can’t rely on our WiFi in a connected home, it’s not worth it. Have made a complaint. If they don’t offer an upgraded hub (which they’ve not before) and compensation/reduced bill (gone up by £14 since Sept), we’ll be gone. @virginmedia
-
Daniel Sturley (@ikonic_exposure) reported from Birmingham, England
@virginmedia What would really help is a separate sales number to call and to speak with an agent straight away with no ‘system’ to navigate and who understands my disability and can help me to sign up if I want to :~}
-
pepe sprio (@wolfboy78) reported from Wednesfield, England
@virginmedia No tried again and unable to send an engineer because the fault is not happening .. I did try to explain it's intermittent 😡😡but with the language barrier she couldn't understand .. I will try and cancel my account later because I'm not paying for a service that has issues
-
lorraine smith (@lorraineesm) reported from Wolverhampton, England
See @virginmedia can’t be bothered to even tweet back an angry customer

@virginmedia Yep been doing that for 8 days as well. No help there just get fobbed off to a imaginary technician that never arrives. What am I meant to be paying for? a paperweight?
-
Phil Massey (@Philmassey85) reported
@virginmedia Then when I contacted your tech team after all that I was advised to restart and give it 24 hours after being told it might be due to a local outage that they couldn't provide me any details about so asked to make a complaint! Which wasn't logged! And I am back to square one! 3/3
-
Sarah (@blondetwin1710) reported
@virginmedia Connectivity problems and upgrading account. But according to the man I spoke to, only new customers get the better deals. He seemed to feel our connectivity problems were our problem, not yours.
-
Grizzo (@StreetsofGreezo) reported
@virginmedia Sends me off to a "Technician" that never arrives. Am really considering leaving as theres been no service here.

-
Phil Massey (@Philmassey85) reported
@virginmedia When I have spoken to someone I have tried router restarts, a new virgin hub was sent out, I've split my WiFi signal, taken off all devices bar 1 or 2 because there were too many connected! (Made no difference) And an engineer has been out and provided new cable. 2/3
-
David Leroy Selllers (@LeroyDLS) reported
I have never experienced such bad customer service before like I have just from @virginmedia . I am literally cancelling because of this. Horrendous experience- I’m going with @skytv #virginmedia #badcustomerservice #skytv
-
Sarah (@blondetwin1710) reported
@virginmedia Well that would be easier, but having tried to change my email with yourselves already you haven't done so, so I cannot access online. Several issues and none of them resolved. I thought during times of pandemic WiFi services would be more up to scratch for people to stay at home
-
Chrissie Walsh (@ChrissieTinks) reported
@toml86 @virginmedia I've been trying to get a response to a written complaint since September. Even the complaints department are worse than useless!
-
Sarah Cannell (@scahb69) reported
@CJ_the_Vampire @virginmedia Have just had the identical conversation re: VM blocking the Vodafone sure signal port @vodafone say it’s a common problem known to both companies but neither appear prepared to resolve it
