They then put me on hold and the phone cut off after half an hour of waiting. Tried calling again but after another 20 min I gave up.

The issue is you weren’t able to spot whether it was a scam number or not. So the question is why are BT as a company putting their customers through this? Openreach damaged my property, this happened over a month ago and BT palmed me off to Openreach who palmed me off to Keoghs.
