@virginmedia Do you, or could you make a TV box remote for the elderly? Tiny buttons with tinier symbols instead of words, black buttons on black body.... Almost impossible for some older people to use. An OAP version with larger coloured buttons would be such a help!

  • andy_s_battle

@virginmedia But cutting people off to enforce this is unethical, besides no previous communication has indicated this and the solution is not convenient with where they want to do this and no suggestion to reposition my hub

  • WolfofX
    Wolf of X (@WolfofX) reported

In 2003, Stan Beaton lost his wife Ruby to cancer. But there was one small piece of her he could still hold onto. Her voice. Ruby had recorded the outgoing voicemail greeting on their home phone around 2001. After she died, Stan deliberately kept it. In the difficult years that followed, whenever he was feeling particularly low, he could pick up the phone and hear her voice again. He even avoided changing phone providers because he was afraid the recording might disappear. Then, in December 2014, it did. Technical work involving Virgin Media's voicemail system caused Ruby's recording to vanish. Stan was devastated. After protecting it for more than a decade, he believed the sound of his wife's voice was gone for good. When Virgin Media learned what the recording meant to him, a team of engineers began searching through their systems. They initially thought the chances of recovering it were extremely small. They searched for three days. Then they found it. In January 2015, BBC Radio Leeds was there as Stan heard the recovered recording for the first time. The moment Ruby's voice came through, he recognized her immediately. "That's her." Stan broke down in tears. He later described hearing her again as a "wonderful, wonderful sound." Virgin Media also gave him a permanent copy of the recording, so he would never have to rely on the voicemail system to keep it safe again. Ruby had recorded nothing extraordinary. It was simply an everyday greeting for their home telephone. Fourteen years later, that ordinary little recording had become something Stan thought he would never hear again.

@virginmedia Could you reply to my DM? Absolutely shocking service with no accountability. £120 a month for what? No service, no customer service! Potentially you are in breach of contract and now ignoring customer complaints. Not a good look this!!

@craigy1977 @bmstewart2004 @virginmedia When your contract is due for renewal tell them you're done & you're not paying £100 any more I did & got my bill down to £64 18 months later I did it again, got a speed increase from 300mb to 1.2 gig, Netflix & price down to £53 Might not be £12 but it's a saving

@Derek959Derek @RayJones34 All the big 3 providers do it via the Good Things Foundation, apart from EE and BT who have there own arrangements for helping with data poverty. These help people on benefits so official status and a NI number is needed . Virgin Media O2 Vodaphone 3 do it via Databank .
